Re: So... Are da blues
You hope so.
Seattle was a very winnable game. The fact that they didn't get 2 points against a team that was eliminated a few weeks ago is a bit concerning. Now they're putting themselves in a position to potentially miss if things don't go their way on Tuesday.
I am going to be honest. I'm worried about it.

I'm worried about it too. This would be an epic collapse and embarrassment if they fall short after that run.
Re: So... Are da blues
One of the most important lessons in life is Don't worry about things you cannot control. I'll certainly be sitting on pins and needles but what happens is up to the Blues.
In the 3 Reasons thread I listed three reasons NOT to worry, three things working in the Blues favor. I'm sure there are others. The Blues just came off a long Northwestern road trip against tough competition, now they have an extra day of rest with Utah playing tonight. They have Parayko and presumably Broberg back in the lineup. They have the crowd and the line matchups. There is no reason for the Blues not to skate Utah right out of the rink.

Agreed. A bit hyperbolic, which is ok, just passion about a favorite team. But they were trending towards a top 5-10 pick. Now they have a chance to punch a ticket to the playoffs.

I'm totally confident the Blues are going to be rabid tomorrow. This team has earned my respect.
Re: So... Are da blues
I agree with what you said but as a fan I'll be a lil embarrassed if they don't make it after that run. I talk a lot of chit throughout the season. I live in enemy territory.

They should come out and play as they did in their last period of hockey.
I'm pretty sure the effort will be there but they need to put it all together as a team.

I used to live there, as a result my fantasy football league is all Chicago fans...had one idiot hawk fan tell me the blues and hawks are basically the same and equally bad after the classic

Utah plays hard they smoked a bad Preds team last night they always play the Blues well. Sorry but I'd be pleasantly surprised if the Blues won in regulation. I think the Holloway injury was too much to sustain and at the worst moment

The absolute-beyond-all-doubt-without-question most crucial factor is an early lead. It's Utah's last game of the year and their 3rd game in 4 nights including, as others mentioned, the 2nd of a back-to-back.
You get an early lead and especially if you can build on it, there's no way Utah is going to sacrifice life and limb as the Blues most definitely should be willing to do to try and win this game.
If we can net a couple and and they're skating like their life depends on it, there's no way Utah's going to match that intensity when all the other factors are considered.

The other side of that coin is Utah could say to themselves, we’ve got all summer to rest, let’s ruin StL’s chances just for funblackinkbiz wrote: ↑15 Apr 2025 07:51 am The absolute-beyond-all-doubt-without-question most crucial factor is an early lead. That doesn't sound nearly as compelling, as motivation. Those dudes are tired - ours are rested and By Gott should be angry.netboy65 wrote: ↑15 Apr 2025 08:12 amThe other side of that coin is Utah could say to themselves, we’ve got all summer to rest, let’s ruin StL’s chances just for funblackinkbiz wrote: ↑15 Apr 2025 07:51 am The absolute-beyond-all-doubt-without-question most crucial factor is an early lead. A lot of faint hearts around here. I understand folks are a bit beat down by the last three games, but this is crunch-time, the Blues have most chips stacked in their favor. Wish I could be there...

Re: So... Are da blues
The key word there is fun. If the Blues play a boring style and let Utah skate up and down the ice unfettered, that's how it could go. If the Blues come out early and send a message that, if you're to beat us in this game, it's going to be the most difficult game of your life, would you be willing to risk your career in the final, meaningless game of a season when it's your 3rd in 4 nights if you know you're going to get crushed any time you go near their net?netboy65 wrote: ↑15 Apr 2025 08:12 amThe other side of that coin is Utah could say to themselves, we’ve got all summer to rest, let’s ruin StL’s chances just for funblackinkbiz wrote: ↑15 Apr 2025 07:51 am The absolute-beyond-all-doubt-without-question most crucial factor is an early lead.
