Yep, that's the boat I'm in. If you can't win just one of your final 4 games and 2 are non-playoff teams, do we really want to see that team in the playoffs? Regardless of what happens, it's time to be "smart" buyers this offseason and see what this core can do.LGB73 wrote: ↑14 Apr 2025 08:16 am+1. Come on Utah...just "radio it in"...take the loss to stay one draft spot ahead of Vancouver.
Better yet Blues, just win the dang game handily for the fans!

Re: Utah will be a very tough game…
I want to see this team in the playoffs, even if they get swept and beaten badly each game. Which In my view isn't going to happen. They are Holloway and Broberg and with Parayko now back, ready to be THE best team in the league again. We have more depth now than any time I can remember. They are playing a little tight right now, but the talent is there. Just get in.blackinkbiz wrote: ↑14 Apr 2025 08:43 amYep, that's the boat I'm in. If there was a time to get the monkey off the back, it's now. The recipe is simple. Come out fast. Sap their energy with the cycle down low. Hit them on the forecheck into the boards until they capitulate. Get a timely save or 2 when needed. If the Blues play their game, they will get in and then it's on to Winnipeg (probably). This team isn't likely to get past round 1, but a playoff birth is a nice block to build on.

Even though I hated seeing the NHL leave AZ, I love seeing the much better situation the players, coaches, and front office are in in Salt Lake City. Alex Meruelo will go down as one of the worst owners and most despicable men in NHL history. I didn't think it was possible to make more local enemies in high places than Harry Ornest, but Meruelo did it.

Utah beat the Dallas Stars 2 games ago and just smoked the Predators 7 to 3 tonight.
I just watched the Utah TV Broadcast tonight and in there Post Game show ,
They are Bragging on well Utah is playing now at the end of this Season.
This is going to be real tuff matchup for the Blues tommorrow.

Harry Ornest will forever be on my Heroes list. I really don't care whose feathers he ruffled, he saved the Blues for St. Louis.Pink Freud wrote: ↑14 Apr 2025 21:48 pm Even though I hated seeing the NHL leave AZ, I love seeing the much better situation the players, coaches, and front office are in in Salt Lake City. Yep, 27 goals in their last 5 games which two were against some of the top teams in the conference. This will be a war. I said during the Seattle GDT that I thought the Seattle game was a must win because Arizona/Utah seems to have our number. Sitting on pins and needles.oldbattler wrote: ↑14 Apr 2025 22:00 pm Utah beat the Dallas Stars 2 games ago and just smoked the Predators 7 to 3 tonight.

Re: Utah will be a very tough game…
4 points for Keller. Maybe Utah will wear out in the 3rd period…. If we don’t give up too many two on ones In the first two periods
Just a little additional things that make you mad;
Now why did McDavid sit out tonight! Gift to the Kings? Where was our gift? No Draisital either in a 0-5 loss. McDavid single-handedly gave Edmonton the victory against us
And has anyone noticed that Dallas is giving up a lot of goals lately-both goalies. But it doesn’t look like we have to worry about playing them anyway if we don’t take care of our own game

Hope the boys didn’t wake up as stressed out as I did. Man alive…going to be a long tense day
Re: Utah will be a very tough game…
Well maybe not necessarily a Hero, but I agree that he is definitely under-appreciated. He took a risk, negotiated a great deal for himself, we got rewarded. And the only time the Blues advanced to the Conference finals between their Stanley Cup Final appearances in 1970 and in 2019 was when he owned the team. And he also did not own the team when stupid tampering shanahanegins were going on, which cost us many valuable draft picks, as well as poor contract management (see Adam Oates).DawgDad wrote: ↑14 Apr 2025 22:18 pmHarry Ornest will forever be on my Heroes list. Nothing personal here, this is a general comment based on your post content. I have a strong sense many in the current Blues fan base do not fully appreciate the fact the Blues were gone, lost to the City, abandoned, bags LITERALLY packed for Saskatoon. That's not a catchy phrase in a song, that was real.Old_Goat wrote: ↑15 Apr 2025 09:23 amWell maybe not necessarily a Hero, but I agree that he is definitely under-appreciated. Imagine no Hull, no Chaser, no MacInnis, Pronger, Demitra, no Quenneville or Hitch teams, no Pietrangelo, no Chief, NO CUP. Ponder that. NO ONE IN ST. LOUIS WOULD SAVE THE TEAM. NO ONE. Ponder THAT!
So, yeah, he's on my Mt. Rushmore of Blues ownership icons.

Re: Utah will be a very tough game…
There are 2 guys I never want to see in the lineup, Clayton Keller and Kyle Connor. Those guys are Blues killers. It would be a good vibe if the boys can get a W and send them a golf package on their way out. This will undoubtedly be a tough one. They have won 4 of 5. Have nothing but pride to play for and it's working. Potential 90 point season for the first time since 2011. Keller is having a career year and gets to finish it at home in STL.
Blues have some pressure to get it done, but not really a ton of pressure. This is about getting it right. You aren't playing like it's a must win. You are playing like you need to get back to your game. If you do that and lose, maybe you get a bit of luck and still get in. But if you strangle the baby trying to get a W, even with a win, it's going to lead to a first round bounce. You have to find a way to replicate that 3rd period offense you had the other day.
I'm encouraged they moved Kyrou back to Schenns line in practice. When we go Kyrou Thomas, it almost inevitably leads to bad streaks of hockey.

Re: Utah will be a very tough game…
Also for those counting at home, this is the record against Utah/Yotes the last few years
22- 3-1 Blues
23 - 1-2 Yotes
24 - 2-2 Tie
25 - 1-2 Utah
That last 4 season record where these teams are very much back in forth has it at 7-7. Tonight is the rubber match. Chance to tie up the series on Utah. But it shows how back and forth this has been for a while.
