I believe so based on Jeff Gordon's article. We would both end up with 94 points, but we'd win qualify due to the tie breaker.

Yes. I recommend the ESPN version of the standings, they break down the tiebreaker components RW, ROW, etc. Here are the rules:

If they lose once in regulation, the best they can do is tie us in points and regulation wins. The next tie-breaker is regulation/overtime wins and they cannot catch us in that one.

Same outcome if we beat Utah in regulation, regardless of what happens with Calgary.

Yes, but they literally have three layups to complete, tonight being the first one. People do miss layups occasionally such as the Blues last night against a hapless, sleeping Seattle team with no jump, fire or good goaltending when the Blues had everything on the line, so it could happen

Yes, but that doesn't mean an automatic W.

SJ has won 20 games this year. That means 20 teams went in expecting a guaranteed W and got sent home with an L.

Calgary has played a lot of high intensity close games, many of them they were losing in the 3rd period, and has basically been playing every other night for 3 weeks now.

Fatigue will set in, taking a team too lightly will settle in, some bad puck luck, Georgiev standing on his head(this is not a very likely scenario), Celibrini going off (this is the more likely scenario) a Flame getting injured.

No game in the NHL is a guaranteed win. The longer San Jose sticks around that game, or leads the more the odds increase that the Flames lose.

If San Jose can keep it close for 2 periods I like their odds.

Calgary is going to win the rest of their games.

The Blues can still get in by winning on Tuesday night at home against a team lower than them in the standings. If the team can't muster a winning effort knowing what is at stake, then they don't deserve to get in.

Crystal balls have been known to be, let's say, not incredibly accurate.

I absolutely agree with the second part, but in 2025 they have had ONE 4 game win streak and 2 of those were OT. This isn't a layup.

They have had 2 other 4 game win streaks (4 was the longest) one in Oct, one in Nov. Both had at least one OT win, one had 2.

San jose also sold at the deadline. They are 3-13 since march 6th. Its possible but im not that hopeful.

Thanks all who gave normal responses. I thought so. Would like this nagging stress since about a week ago to go away.

The Sharks gave Calgary all they could handle at their last meeting.

I'm glad it's a division game too.

You never really know.

I agree with the poster about Calgary may win all their remaining games. Here is note worth watching. Edmonton needs to keep winning tonight and against the Kings Monday. That would make the Kings game important to them for home ice advantage. Otherwise, Calgary's game will mean nothing to the Kings on Thursday just like Vegas could care less about their game against the Flames on Tuesday. Not getting one point in Edmonton in the last few seconds on that defensive mistake has made this much more difficult to clinch.
