Mikolas today
Chances of him lowering his double digital ERA is slim. Today needs to be a make or break audition if he remains in the rotation, or for that matter, on the team. I have zero optism when he starts. Especially with the offense in a mini funk.

Re: Mikolas today
He has stretches where the old Mikolas shows up. As each year has passed, those stretches become smaller and smaller. This year, they're non-existent. At this point, if he can't even come close to quality starts, putting him out there serves 0 purpose beyond trying to recoup sunk costs.Handsomebachelor wrote: ↑12 Apr 2025 08:20 amBeen wondering what happened because he used to be pretty decent from what I rememberRamFan08NY wrote: ↑12 Apr 2025 08:05 am Chances of him lowering his double digital ERA is slim. Bats better get hot, they'll likely need 7+ runs to win today w/Meatman Mikolas on the bump.

Re: Mikolas today
He is not pitching with the team hoping to see his ERA go lower.RamFan08NY wrote: ↑12 Apr 2025 08:05 am Chances of him lowering his double digital ERA is slim. He is only pitching because the team wants the balance due on his contract to be much lower before they cut him loose.

Re: Mikolas today
I was really excited about Mikolas when he came to STL. He had a breakthrough year in 2018, going 18-4 with a 2.83 ERA and over 200 IP.Handsomebachelor wrote: ↑12 Apr 2025 08:20 amBeen wondering what happened because he used to be pretty decent from what I rememberRamFan08NY wrote: ↑12 Apr 2025 08:05 am Chances of him lowering his double digital ERA is slim. He signs up for 4 more years, but misses 2020. In those seasons he goes 23-30 with a 3.76 ERA, but continues to be a horse with IP.
Desperate for SP, Mo gives him a 3-year contract worth $55,750,000. He's been horrible since, so far going 19-25 with a 5.17 ERA. He still throws a lot of innings, but they are not good quality overall.
Mikolas had a GREAT 2018, catching fire in bottle. Since then he's been mid-bad combining for a 42-55 record and a 4.42 ERA over the past 6+ years (although he missed 2020 in that time). He will have made approx. $105,833,333 in that time frame.
He's just not a great pitcher.
Re: Mikolas today
Mikolas and Stroman beg the question - how & why are you in MLB? Both tell anyone who will listen they are great SP and then throw softball pitches in games. At least Stroman will get injured periodically and get out of the way.
