Jeff Goodman tweeted that he polled 25 high major coaches, and here is going rate for portal players at this point:
Projected elite guys: $2.5-4 million
Projected all conference: $1.5-2.5 million
Projected starters: $500K-1.5 million
Projected bench players: $200-700K
Word is that Mizzou got Mack for $700K. They were looking at Kyan Evans, who projected as a starter at guard...but North Carolina offered him $2 million and not surprisingly, he took it. That was twice what anybody else thought he was worth even in this market. It's crazy out there, and it's looking more and more like Mizzou is going to have to develop the freshmen and sophomores and try to get Pierce over his yips and into a role as an important cog.

These are the type of facts that draw the ire of the vocal minority and will lead them to attack you with personal threats. This year Mizzou beat an elite eight Ole Miss and Bama and the national champs Florida once. The basketball team was predicted to finish 13th or lower in the SEC and instead a well-coached team made the dance

I don't know what is keeping Gates from picking up 2 decent guards in the portal.
All the decent guards have already committed to other teams. Gates better get going
I am hoping some really good players hit the portal late and Gates hits the jackpot.
Gates is saving some NIL for some late comers to the portal. That is my hope!

[/quote]The problem with having the second most returning production in the SEC is that you gotta pay that production. Mizzou is at best middle of the pack in money available in the SEC, and they have to make sure they keep Mitchell, Robinson, and several other guys happy, while other SEC teams have less of a present payroll because they lost everybody, and thus more money to spend in the portal. Mizzou has shown no inclination to spend more than a million on any portal player, and guys that are mediocre starters are getting over a million. So sure, if the absolute right guard or guards enters the portal, Mizzou will go after them. But so will some other schools that have more money to spend and more willingness to spend it.
