GDT: Blues at Oilers 9:00 TNT, TRU

Post by hotrivets »

Late start, alternate channel. Would think we don't see any lineup changes unless DD slots in.

Blues need a good rebound game. Two teams with 93 points. Oil are +19 goal diff and Blues are +18.

I thought they played a better 60 min against Winnipeg than their prior three that they won.

It was sort of funny, actually, "what loss would Blues fans accept?"

"Well, I suppose if they set a franchise record winning streak to make a stirring playoff run reminiscent of 2009, then if they go on the road against the very toughest team in the league and play a strong 60 min where they could win, but honorably lose, and still look extremely likely to make the playoffs, then I'd be ok with a loss & would have nothing negative to say." :D

Yeah they didn't play terrible against the Jets, just looked gassed. And Winnipeg really seemed to be on a mission. I do not remember the Jets playing that possessed in the prior 2 against the Blues. It's like they wanted to be the team that stopped the streak at all costs.

Hopefully Parayko's back this week and Holloway wakes up miraculously healed.

Grrr with the late start. Got up at 4-430 everyday for work, and now after retiring in Dec I’m finally to the point that I can stay up for a whole 7pm game but not quite to 9pm start status yet!

They hung in but got trapped in our Dzone too much. Without the Buch bad pass game could have gone either way. Against the Jets I guess that is pretty good.

Joseph opened the door. His gaffe led to a breakaway and the first goddanged goal of the game.

Buch made a pass you see a half-dozen times a game, and two other teammates had to drop the ball for that to cost us.

Buch is nearly at Faulk levels of abuse.
He is consistently and quietly doing the boring and tiring things that make for good shifts.

I didnt see the better play. Winnipeg is a team that gets part if their advantages from superior goaltending and we didnt even come close to testing helly. We generating an embarrassingly low 15 shots for the game. We played fine defensively but for being among the best offensive teams since 4 nations, we didnt generate any offensive pressure

They had significant stretches of the three prior games where they looked worse to me is all. Yes they generated fewer offensive chances but they also had a major 60 min defensive effort. The Winnipeg game looked like A game beats A- game whereas the prior games were efforts in the B range. Not a big deal though just a perception

I agree with this take. You have to give the opponent credit, they kept three Blues lines and all the defensemen off the scoreboard. They pounced on two mistakes and buried them, they shut the Blues down 6-on-5. That's what the 2019 Blues did to teams, good teams. The Blues for their part went toe-to toe with the best team in the league for 2-1/2 periods and had time and chances to tie it up until the ENG.

I'm a Blues fan in Georgia. I couldn't follow the team like I do if I were not retired. Yes, I'd MUCH rather see them play Winnipeg or Dallas.

Evidently ryan nugent hopkins is doubtful to play tonight now and oilers will play with only 19 players and 17 skaters.

Brutal injury luck for oilers. Im sure some of their fans are worried about them losing out if mcdrai dont return and calgary winning out to overtake them

Still not me though, even if it means I only see period 1 for road games, the Pacific route is by far the more desirable
