Yep, Helsley wouldn't have the NTC. Same with Fedde, Nootbaar, Donovan and Burleson. It could get interesting around the trade deadline. Especially, if McGreevy and Mathews are ready for the rotation. And Saggese at 2B. And if Gorman and Herrera continue to look like productive MLB hitters. The trade deadline could be when the reset finally occurs. If the team continues to be just so-so, overall.Cusecards wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025 11:20 amThey all have NTC’s except for Helsley.Shady wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025 11:15 amArenado, Helsley, Gray, Contreras could bring some nice players in return. But they may not want to leave, right now. Maybe Fedde. And with Scott's development, one of Nootbaar, Burleson and even Donovan could be available.
Waaaay too early for trades.

Patience is out of the question: he needs a steady supply of "topics" (i.e., pretexts) to start new threads on a daily basis.Cusecards wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025 11:20 amThey all have NTC’s except for Helsley.Shady wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025 11:15 amArenado, Helsley, Gray, Contreras could bring some nice players in return. It is and has been a reset. They got lucky got off to a hot start. Mindsets changed immediately. For the better.
Then back to earth. Reset.
Then back to earth. Reset.
Re: Is it too late for a reset?
Long term injuries to key players for teams that see themselves as a playoff team that don’t want to fall too far behind would trigger teams to make early trades. Brewers just over payed for a pitcher from Boston giving up a top prospect and a comp a pick due to starting pitching injuries.
Question is will the Cards be willing to make the moves early on or wait till later?

Re: Is it too late for a reset?
Does any poster want MO Ran to make any trade with NA, Grey, Hels, Contreras, Donovan, etc as the trade chip?
Please baseball Gods I know you are angry with DimWallet, MO Ran, and Marmot but have some mercy on the fans. Do not let him make one of his WAGS.

Re: Is it too late for a reset?
The Cardinals probably need to hold on to Contreras, for now, the way he's performing. His trade value has likely gone down, But some teams, right now, would likely have some interest in acquiring Arenado, Gray and Helsley. The Cardinals should hold on to Donovan at least until they see how consistent Scott is. If the Cardinals feel they can truly compete. They need to start showing it. Then hanging on to some valuable, older trade chips would make more sense.

I think based on what the plan seems to be for 2025 I think we all need to be patient and give it some time?NYCardsFan wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025 11:30 amPatience is out of the question: he needs a steady supply of "topics" (i.e., pretexts) to start new threads on a daily basis.Cusecards wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025 11:20 amThey all have NTC’s except for Helsley.Shady wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025 11:15 amArenado, Helsley, Gray, Contreras could bring some nice players in return. Contreras has no trade and refused. Arenado will keep a 5-6 contender team listChubbs0910 wrote: ↑08 Apr 2025 10:58 am Best case scenario is Contreras and Arenado are studs and bring in some real talent at the deadline.

Re: Is it too late for a reset?
The reason there aren't early season trades is because serious teams leave ST with a lineup & contingencies. It is a rare occurrence when a team's Plan A & Plan B are already shot to hell in mid-April. Usually, when it does happen, what they want to trade for is a solid to VG starting pitcher or maybe a closer. What would the Cardinals need to contend in the NL Central? Hmmm.
Re: Is it too late for a reset?
That was originally the goal but then Mo backed out and middled it again. Have to wait for him to leave.

Re: Is it too late for a reset?
Yes and no. As mentioned by others, significant trades probably aren't happening until July. However, playing time can always be reset (looking at you Miles Mikolas). Most of the things the Cardinals actually did reset are working out. Walker and Gorman look much better. Victor Scott is working out. Every catcher we've used has done alright. Jury is still out on Liberatore. Give it some time.

Re: Is it too late for a reset?
Mo needs to re-establish his plan for a reset this season. This team, as is, lacks the consistency to compete for the division title and even a wildcard birth.
