If Vancouver loses tonight, they can't catch us

That would leave only Calgary and Minnesota fighting for the first wild card.

The nucks have to run the table and the Blues or Flames would need to lose out to get in...I think.

Edit: There's a little room for error when it comes to the Wild. Nonetheless they are done IMO.

If Vancouver fails to win in regulation tonight, or any of their 5 remaining games, they can't catch the Blues.
Any win that comes after 60 minutes for them, the Blues clinch over them.

(This possibility only matters in a circumstance where the Blues lose all 4 remaining in regulation.)

The Canucks are down 3-0 against Dallas tonight. Whew...that is less teams to track...I'm exhausted.

The Blues only have three games left, not four...@Edmonton, @Seattle and home against Utah. We can clinch tomorrow with a win against Edmonton and a Calgary loss to Anaheim.

Yep I had the thought "finish the year with 4 straight losses" and messed it up.
For the Vancouver scenario to matter Blues basically have to lose out in regulation

I have Minnesota beating the Blues on the tiebreaker for the two wildcards. Hopefully the Blues can get a point out of Edmonton to get to 98 points

St Louis Current 93 points
Edmonton L
Seattle W
Utah W
Finish with 97 points after going 2-1

Minnesota Current 91 points
San Jose W
Calgary L
Vancouver W
Anaheim W
Finish with 97 points after going 3-1

Calgary Current 87 points
Anaheim W
Minnesota W
San Jose W
Vegas L
Los Angelas L
Finish with 93 points after going 3-2

Why is Edmonton penciled in as a loss but the other 2 wins? Edmonton is our easiest game left. They are without mcdavid, draisaitl, ekholm, frederic, Kane(although they have been all year) and stuart skinner(although their backup has played better).

They are missing their 3 best players in mcdrai and ekholm.

They are 4-4 in their last 8 games since mcdrai and mcdavid got injured, but they were 3-0 in the 3 games draisaitl returned from injur in the middle of that stretch and 1-4 without him in their last 8.(including losses to mediocre teams like anaheim and seattle)

This is the oilers b team. Seattle and utah have their mostly full lineup

He is basing it strictly on records and that's it.

Right now Edmonton has a better record than us so the percentages would favor Edmonton.

Jack, you are right. I am not a sports bettor or predictor. I just went with the teams with the better records. However, I kind of feel like the Blues will be hungover and not sharp from the streak. Edmonton is a trip up game. I would like to be wrong and win against Edmonton. Also, we don't have our full lineup.

I guess Vancouver can still catch the Blues. Scored 3 times in the final minute to tie and then won in OT.

Stars threw this game.

That was a massive loss for the Stars.

They now stay 5 points back of Winnipeg with a game in hand.

If you are Dallas you would think you would do everything you can take over the top spot so your first round matchup isn't Colorado.

I don't think they lose to Colorado, but that's a far worse matchup than what it would be against Minny or Calgary.

That last minute might have been the sloppiest bit of hockey I’ve ever seen. It looked like Dallas suddenly forgot how to close gaps or clear pucks. A little puck luck was involved, sure, but holy moly. If I’m a stars fan I’m more than a little concerned with whatever the heck that was supposed to be.

Vancouver can no longer overtake the Blues. Blues hold tie breaker no matter what happens now.
