Liberatore is not a SP
Literally, Mo is an idiot. How many times does he have to have Liberatore in the starting rotation and fail before he accepts that he has more value in the BP? I mean WTF Gus?
Is Mo trying to completely destroy his value? Still if it's between him and Mikolas... we'll good knowing you lizard man, don't let the door hit your (bleep) on the way out.

no no no no no....still too early to grade the trade Mo made lol
Re: Liberatore is not a SP
I was very surprised they announced him starting.
I guess if they consider this a “(bleep) shoot” season they figure no harm giving him one last shot???
Mikolas & Matz will be gone next year and who knows about Fedde??
My concern is the same thing that happened to Thompson will happen to Liberatore.
He shined out of the BP and they jacked him around!
Need Matz and/or Mikolas to give them 2/3 months.
McGreevy should be up soon.
Hopefully Mathews after the AS Break?

He settled in very well and was hitting mid 90s in the 7th
Leave him alone and let’s see what we got.

Re: Liberatore is not a SP
He absolutely should be starting this year. We need to give him every opportunity to see if he can start. If after an extended chance he is not succeeding he can always go back to the bullpen. He has actually pitched a lot of good innings this year as a starter, but has had the two hiccup innings. Part of the learning experience.
You people and your overreactions to things are really lame. Look up the first couple of years for several very good starting pitchers in history and you will see many struggles. Tom Glavine was considered a bust by many Braves fans when he has a terrible year before he started his streak of 20 win seasons. There are many examples of this. Young pitchers sometimes take time to develop especially lefties.
Soon Mikalas should be shelved and McGreevey should be up and then Fedde can be moved in July and Matthews can come up. It is the proper plan for this year.

Re: Liberatore is not a SP
He should be starting.
The team has nothing to lose and if he breaks out its a bonus for the future.
He has more upside than McGreevy or Graceffo and if he bombs after 15 or so starts then Bloom knows what his role as a lefty in the pen will be going forward and settle the issue once and for all.
His first two starts this season have been far from disasters.
His value as a possible future starter far outweighs a non-closer role in the BP.

I disagree. And I didn't think I'd say that. Libby's been about as good as you could hope for our #5

If it means DFAing Mikolas, then let him have MM's spot.Strummer Jones wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 19:53 pm I disagree. And I didn't think I'd say that. Libby's been about as good as you could hope for our #5

Re: Liberatore is not a SP
He is a starting pitcher. I'm betting that 20 starts will show that.
Re: Liberatore is not a SP
He’s been mishandled ever since Mo has been in charge of handling him. I’m not saying he will workout as a starter, but I think he just needs to be left alone in the rotation and see how it goes. He hasn’t been dominant but he also isn’t embarrassing himself.
