Re: Oli Marmol
Marmol is fine. I think he's a net neutral on the team. Doesn't help. Doesn't hurt. I think having terrible leadership from the front office has WAY more blame than Marmol. I think the leadership that did next to nothing to even attempt to move guys like Mikolas are more to blame.
Re: Oli Marmol
How do you know there were no attempts to move guys like Mikolas? Do you have inside information?Strummer Jones wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 13:24 pm Marmol is fine. I think he's a net neutral on the team. The most amazing thing about this quote from Albert is that dream I had in 2016 that the Cubs from the NL Central won the World Series. Or was 2015 after that in some remarkable reversal of the sequence of number?? Strange happenings!!!!!!

NO doubtBasil Shabazz wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 13:09 pmdavdaddy wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 12:46 pmMaybe some on here should quit blaming everything on Marmol and listen to a future HOF for a change.
I see this post did not last long as it doesn't fit the CT blame party.
Oh well, it is only a future HOF superstar. I'm sure you guys are much more knowledgeable than Albert!!
From his MLB Network quotes:
"Therefore, when he speaks about a team that could win a division title, we should all listen.
St. Louis Cardinal legend Albert Pujols believes the team can win the National League Central in 2025.
While on MLB Network prior to the St. Louis Cardinals' series against the Boston Red Sox, Pujols spoke of his belief in the 2025 version of the Cardinals.
"You have the pieces there. I think (the Cardinals) are going to bounce back this year. I think they have the team to win the (National League) Central and get deeper into the postseason."
Albert Pujols
The National League Central has been notoriously weak these last few years. The last time a team from either Central division won a World Series was in 2015 when the Kansas City Royals took home the championship. Only one team in the Central divisions is in the top half of payrolls in all of baseball: the Chicago Cubs.
Therefore, the National League Central is a very open division. The Cardinals could and should capitalize on this weakness and aim to win the division and reach the playoffs.
Pujols went on to speak glowingly about the club's manager, Oliver Marmol. "You have a great manager, Oli Marmol. Although he's really young, he's a great manager," said Pujols. "(He's a) great communicator with the players, built a great relationship with the players."
Fans have been calling for Marmol to be replaced for years now. In fact, several fans have called for Pujols to replace Marmol as the club's manager. To hear a legend of the game speak highly about not only the manager but also the club as a whole should reassure Cardinal fans that the team and organization are in a good position.
lololol!! What do you expect AP to say?
Also, AP's experience w/ Marmol is drastically different than others. Do you really think that Marmol was going to cross w/ AP? Heck no! He was scared to death of AP. Marmol takes it out on O'Neill, Contreras(when he knew he had Waino on his side), etc.. Marmol can't lead spit to fall. He is a terrible in game manager and a culture killer.
Albert wants to Manage and he wants to manage the Cardinals!
But Albert is also very PR savvy.
Oli is a Mo minion, terrible in game Manage, idiot at setting a lineup, ect.........
Re: Oli Marmol
What does this have to do with employing an idiot manager? The idiot manager should’ve fired the hitting coach last year, obvious he was an issue.
Idiot manager should’ve left ST without Miles in rotation

Re: Oli Marmol
The proof is in the pudding. All they had to do to move Mikolas was give him his outright release. They chose not to.Cranny wrote: ↑07 Apr 2025 13:45 pmHow do you know there were no attempts to move guys like Mikolas? Your AA Cardinals in a nutshell. Organization has become a turd. Mo should have been fired 7 years ago.

Matheny won 100 games and a pennant. That’s no where near the same level of failsdaltons wrote: ↑06 Apr 2025 21:32 pmI'm just saying it all comes down to Mozeliak. He's the one who continuously puts people in a position to fail.

Lil oli may be the first Cardinals manager to have two 90 loss seasons. Guess that's one way to go down in team history.
