I have to say I am not surprised or concerned with the team record or performance to date. In fact I am happy with it. Nah I hate losing but it is a reset year and so far with the exception of keeping Fedde and Helsley management has done everything right.

Regarding pitching and those who want to throw minor leaguers to the wolves pass. Let them be ready before getting the call. Until then let Mikolas etc take the beatings.

Now why am I happy? Because I am seeing very real improvement on the young hitters. Gorman, Walker, Scott etc all show a different approach that looks sustainable. That is how you build a contender.

I thought this season was about youth movement. Mikolas is young, he hasn't had anything for the last 2 years, The Cardinals keep running out these rinse and repeat guys year after year. Matz, Mikolas need to be DFA IMMEDIATELY. Fedde pickup was just a Band-Aid deal, he isn't even a journeyman pitcher, Sonny Gray wouldn't even be a #3 starter on most teams maybe even a 4. The bullpen sucks from top to bottom, they have lost 3 games in extra innings, blew another in the 9th. It doesn't make any difference if you score 7,8, 9 runs if the other team scores 1 more run. Bring McGreevy up, If you are going to lose at least play some of the guys you think will be the future players to lead them. Is Gorman listed as #2 2nd baseman, 3 after Sagesse or is he headed elsewhere? Does the owners, Mo have any clue where they are headed with this team? My thinking is if the fans continue not to show up as they have in the first few games they will blame the fans for their lack of funds to compete with free agents. I is all baked in the pre-planned cake.

This is one of those situations I understand, but don't like with the Cardinals. It's not my 18 million to to worry about. I wouldn't have signed him in the first place when he was trending this way.
