Scoreboard watch VGK @Van

Post by DawgDad »

2-2 halfway through 2nd.

Nucks Raty just scored to tie it, goaltender interference challenged and denied. Thing is, Raty was in the crease in contact with Hill just before he tipped in the puck. Hill had fallen back and didn't recover to stop the puck. On the replay on my brand new expensive hi-def big screen TV it looked like a clear case of goaltender interference. Raty skates into the crease, bumps the goaltender, Hill falls on his butt, Raty tips in the puck.

Frankly, the goaltender interference rule is enforced how ever they want it to be in the moment. Disgusting.

Yeah, the game thankfully only has a minor amount of importance to the blues at this point, Vancouver is miles and miles behind with little chance of running the table. Vegas and LAK could in theory swap places, but we've played both of those teams well enough (LA we played at the start of this run and looked solid against when coming into our form, Vegas when we were out of form we still played close multiple times).

Will be interested to see how we fare against Winnipeg on Monday. If we get even a point out of that it'll be bad for all the teams behind us given that is the most likely of the upcoming games that we might lose.

Pegs just lost to Utah yesterday, not sure what to make of that.

Its good the team still has a strong reason to compete hard - the WC1 looks a lot more appealing than WC2.

Now there is precisely one way Vancouver can overtake the Blues:

Blues get 0 of their remaining 8 points, and Vancouver win all 5 remaining games in regulation.
Any other outcome Vancouver can't catch them.

Vancouver is done. No shot they win every game, no shot the blues and Minnesota throw 4 L's up. Calgary is the only team left with any real chance to catch one or the other, having 3 fairly winnable games to at least give them the path to 91 points. Just hard to see them for sure getting any more beyond that. The blues just need to get 4 more points to put the pressure on Minnesota get points in all remaining games.
