Carl Warwick
Former Cardinal and you might say unsung hero in the 1964 World Series has passed away.
Re: Carl Warwick
Sorry to hear. He was one of those rare birds who batted RH but threw LH - like Ryan Ludwick. Had some pinch hits in the 64 series I believe.
Re: Carl Warwick
Sad to hear about Warwick. The 1964 team is dwindling too very few left.
Re: Carl Warwick
It's funny the difference 60 years makes. The 1964 team is dwindling
Warwick had his big moment with the Cards but saw the most action with Houston, who were the Colt .45s back then. He also had brief stints with the Dodgers, Cubs, and Orioles.

Re: Carl Warwick
Julian Javier is the only one still alive I can think of offhand. Are there others?
Re: Carl Warwick
Thanks Red. Glad to see Bill White is still alive, my Dad's fav at the time.
For being 61 years ago, it's good to have that many still with us.

Re: Carl Warwick
Thanks, Red and Quincy. My introduction to Carl Warwick is from the photo of Ken Boyer being greeted at home after his historic grand slam in the 1964 WS.

Re: Carl Warwick
My first glove was a Bobby Shantz model. Still, I didn't know who he was. Warwick was just before my time as well, but the '64 Cards were a team of legend. RIP, Carl.
Re: Carl Warwick
I still have my Dad's Bobby Shantz glove. Bobby is 99 years old. Thanks to all the 1964 Cardinals.BrummerStealsHome wrote: ↑06 Apr 2025 10:13 amMy first glove was a Bobby Shantz model. Re: Carl Warwick
I remember him well.
From the webs: "Carl Warwick was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 1 RBI in the 1964 World Series as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals. He was only used as a pinch hitter."
Pretty good week on the biggest stage for a part-time player.

Re: Carl Warwick
He had two big pinch hits in the series. One drove in the go ahead run in a win and his other was a lead off single in the 6th inning to start the rally that lead to Boyer's epic slam.
Re: Carl Warwick
Looking at this thread, I went to check on the opening day lineup in '64. It was in L.A.
Warwick was the starting RF and the battery? Ernie Broglio and Bob Uecker...Koufax a complete game shut out. 96 pitches..Game was 2:06.
