What do you think the plan is for him now that they have a little playoff cushion, Pierre?

Insurance? Maintenance day work for vets? Throw him into the deep end of the pool and see what happens?

You know I thought he played really well. In particular with his decisions which is huge for a rookie. I heard Rivers say he and Snugger played about even in their game 1 debuts, points aside.

But some on this board were pretty critical of his game and I've been curious about that.

Could someone else be hurt? If not, sending him down for a couple days doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

They were down to 12 healthy forwards and going on a road trip (Holloway and Texier both hurt). They need 13 in case someone gets hurt during the game warmup. Still, they could decide to dress him for one of these games if Sunny or someone else needs a game off.

In my opinion Alexandrov is more deserving but he'd have to clear waivers as would any of the other vets to go back down. Dvorsky is the most NHL ready of the young guys so he's back up.

Good call, absolutely right. Forgot Tex was hurt, too.

I'm pretty sure he'll play some. I don't see DD at his experience level beating out Schenn, Sunny, or Faksa for playing time as a regular, not right now. Those guys are professional bangers, even head hunters. The Blues need a depth center ready to step in especially in the playoffs [PLEASE keep Buchnevich on wing!] and keep the 3rd line playable for a couple of periods. They've been grooming DD to be a 200' player, which presumably contributes to why he's here and not someone else.

I would think the concerns are his youth/experience and ability to play (withstand) a playoff-level physical checking game. On the other hand, he did not embarrass himself and the Blues are having great success with their young skilled prospects in terms of energy and effectiveness. If he shows maturity in his game now it could be a significant step forward for him and the team, they could become a matchup nightmare. But I temper expectations, he's still very young.

I see your point but who would come out of the lineup for him? and I'd hate it if he just sits in the pressbox. MacMac would make more sense for that

now, if someone is playing thru some 'dings' or whatnot, that's a different story

See 2019. If the Blues make the playoffs and he's here he'll get to play at some point. Sunny has at least one more suspension in him, right?

Assisted on the OT winner for Springfield last night, only goal of the game.

SPR only has four regular season games left, Fri/Sat then Fri/Sat. Recalling him for at least Mon/Wed games on the road makes sense. At a minimum, insurance. Possibly an intent to play him to get some guys rest. Could also see him staying up, and almost definitely if the Blues lose one more forward.

In his first game he handled sheltered duty fine. Sheltering a guy means low event hockey. We saw him make one high IQ offensive play and we saw him get his feet wet a little. I love seeing this franchise catch every break. The 2023 draft class and Snuggy have been an exciting wait. Hope he's in the lineup this Saturday tbh, I've been doing this snuggles-and divorski bit with the person I'm taking for a couple of years now, time to bear fruit.

Alexandrov wouldn’t have to clear waivers again unless he played 10 games or 30 days, neither of which can happen before the season ends.

Besides them needing a 13th forward for the road trip, I bet they’ll rest some guys down the stretch. They also likely want Dvorsky to get some more experience in the event they need him in the playoffs.

I just don't see that we are in a position to be resting guys quite, this team still has to win games. As of right now I find every game to be VERY important still.

I don't think he and Snuggarud are at the same level in their development. I'd be glad to be proven wrong. It's hard to tell much from game one. He played sheltered minutes. He was good on the PP, but that's been the case all season in Springfield. He just hasn't popped 5v5. I've watched nearly every Springfield game. He's -11, which is third worst on the team, and it's not because he's getting the harder assignments. I really don't care about him getting much of an opportunity until we clinch. That has to be the focus. And even then, don't screw with the mojo. If it makes sense for him to be in there, fine.
