And at least one stolen base can be blamed on Fedde. Huge jump by Duran off first base in the first inning. No kind of throw from Herrera or Bench was going to nail him.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑05 Apr 2025 12:39 pmEh, it was a 3-run HR. I see the "cooler" Oli at it again.![]()
I. Hererra:
4 HR
11 RBI
.400 .455 1.100 1.555
Sits while WillyC DH's?
I love his bat, but that trade off isn't really encouraging.
If Herrera sits, I understand why.
And this is a front office and player development problem. People need to get off Herrera's back. He plays where he's assigned to play.

I didn't realize it was his 1st year catching and he's still learning the positionicon wrote: ↑05 Apr 2025 14:07 pmAnd at least one stolen base can be blamed on Fedde. The #STLCards and #RedSox are officially in a rain delay, meaning the game won't start at 4:10 PM ET/3:10 PM CT. Heavy rain has been falling the past hour and is in the forecast for much of tonight.

As I said, it's a player development issue. There is no way Herrera should have gotten through the minors without a change in position. Pure stupidity on the organization's part.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑05 Apr 2025 14:29 pmI didn't realize it was his 1st year catching and he's still learning the positionicon wrote: ↑05 Apr 2025 14:07 pmAnd at least one stolen base can be blamed on Fedde. He can't throw anybody out. That's a fact.icon wrote: ↑05 Apr 2025 14:07 pmAnd at least one stolen base can be blamed on Fedde. Huge jump by Duran off first base in the first inning. He rainbows his throws.

With better development would he be a better C or would he had been ID'dicon wrote: ↑05 Apr 2025 14:47 pmAs I said, it's a player development issue. as not a C?
His greatest value IMO, is if he can be an average C. I'm not positive that he can't be that.
1B could also work specifically to the Cardinals, possibly LF.
Re: GDT: Cards @ Red Sox (4/5) ~ 3:10pm CDT
IMO not an exceptionally strong arm.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑05 Apr 2025 15:08 pmHe can't throw anybody out. Therefore must get into throwing position faster and be more assertive
in taking the follow through, batters interference if they don't give IH his lane.

Some of these dumb decisions are likely coming from over his head. At least I hope he isn't that stupid. Likely a futile hope.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑05 Apr 2025 12:17 pm Herrera leads the team in homeruns and RBI even though hes started just 5 of the 7 games and oli benches him. Oli is an idiot. It will be a chore for the team to overcome his bad managing this season

Catching on one knee with runners on base isn't going to help.
I don't know who the idiot was who taught him that but they shouldn't have anything to do with being on a ball diamond.

Looks like it could keep raining until about 8PM central.
Under ordinary circumstances, they would scrap it and play two tomorrow.
But tomorrow night is the ESPN game… so I’d bet they try and get something in tonight, even if it gets late.

MLB ran Realmuto (Phils) throwing out Ohtani and Chris Taylor attempted steals in yesterdays Phils-Dodgers game. Cards catching is no where close. Great time to get Yadi to address the problem.
