Whew.......would have taken 4-2 in a heartbeat last week.
Let’s have a winning road trip!
I told my Wife in the 8th that if we DIDN’T score with bases loaded/no outs I was voluntarily entering the Federal Witness Protection Program.

age-old baseball scenario:

tie game after 7 1/2
home team scores in bottom of 8
3 outs in top of 9

7 in the 8th gets the job done.
That was one heck of a bottom 8th! What a game.. :)

What a day for Herrera! We are still undefeated in 9 inning games. 4-0.

When O'Hoppe hit the slammer told myself I was done with downtown and had to get away from these soul-crushing losers ASAP before they sucked more life out of me. lol

Have to give it to this group, they do not quit. 4-2 start that could have easily been 6-0 not a bad way to start the season.

Now that Wynn and Willie can relax a little, maybe we'll see what these guys are really capable of.

I knew it would be fun to look in the middle of this thread and read all of the Marmol bashers and negative trolls mouthing off before the latest comeback. And it did not disappoint. What theater! But in reality, Ollie hate is just ridiculous. People sound like idiots with the same bashing and negative tripe over and over. Fans have no idea who or how many pitchers are available to a manager and its always a dice roll when to pull one. The extra inning fiascos were on the players, not Marmol. In both instances he used Helsley to sit up a chance to win at home in a late inning. We had a chance to do just that and didn't deliver. You can certainly question the moves if you want but I understand why he did both. And until those two late meltdowns the bullpen has been pretty reliable. Why wouldn't you trust them? With Gray, the bullpen was spent from several close games in a row and a long rain delay. The way he was pitching it made sense to go one more inning. It got away fast. Sometimes that happens. I'm sure his plan was to try and use Maton in the 8th and not 7th. (Is something wrong with John King? Is he hurt?) And most every manager is going to let one of your key young players like Winn bat in the situation he was in the other night, despite a slump. You don't bury a kid in the 4th game of the season. Yes, one win is important but so are the other 158 games to follow and you are going to need Winn to be a big part of this team if you are going to win much.

The joy of it all is that the Cardinals have fought back in every game, and that didn't happen much last year. They have scored runs this year and didn't do that much last year. I have enjoyed these first 6 games and I didn't expect that to happen. But of course, anytime something goes wrong let's gripe about the manager. If Ollie wasn't here they could go 162 and 0!

The 2 bunt hits were so fun to watch from 2 speed merchants Scott and Winn. Perfect bunts, even when the one by Winn was just supposed to be a SAC bunt. Those bunt singles set up the big inning. Without them, who knows what would've happened?

Speed thrills. It's nice to see it employed to great effect.

That's because it was a joke, not meant to be taken literally, you joy-siphoning-succubus.

This is probably too much but I think that Scott bunt might be one of the best I've ever seen. Perfectly executed.

Looks like it's the day to break hitless streaks. Devers just got his first hit of 2025, a RBI double vs the Orioles.

At least we only have to deal with posters like him on an anonymous forum.
Can’t imagine having to deal with insufferable people like him in real life??
