Army has stolen your lunch money and smacked his lips right in your face. Binnington as well. You should be embarrassed by your stupidity. I love the line about that in the movie "Flight of the Phoenix." The German guy trying to engineer the stranded bunch out of the desert says to Jimmy Stewart's character: "Mr. Towns, you behave as if stupidity were a virtue. Why is that?"a smell of green grass wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 13:39 pm If Blues do well in playoffs, who looks worse, Army or yours truly (ASOGG)?
Army wanted to trade away the Blues Captain at the trade deadline, and would have done so if Schenn had agreed to it. Seiously, what GM would trade away their Captain if they thought a CUP was even remotely possible?
If we do well in the Playoffs, will you all agree with me that Army has to go because of poor talent evaluation? You are stuck with me forever unfortunately.
Go Blues.
But many stupid people have big mouths. I have little doubt you will continue to show off your stupidity.

Not one person has acknowledged that "Army did give up on the team in 2025" based on his attempting to trade Captain Schenn. That's OK. I'll keep pounding home the facts. I'm confident that there are some who find the truth refreshing.
The next questions are....
1. So how uncomfortable is Army getting with each WIN? He is looking worse and worse with each WIN.
2. Is the team happy to make Army look like a fool?

Army never publicly said that the team was a flop. He knows there's talent there but thought it may not be ready for another year or so. Regardless give me the guy that puts together a talented roster capable of doing great. You actually would want a guy that can't identify talent but thinks his teams are great when they aren't. Seriously?a smell of green grass wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 15:06 pmWhat is worse?stlblues1979 wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 14:52 pmInsanity isn't it? That said, I have been harsh regarding the team, and if they do well in the playoffs, I will leave you all to your good senses and sanity. I promise to leave BluesTalk forever, and just watch the games and shut up. I'm just a drag on this place if that's the case.
I have to recommend, however, that you demand the same from Army. If our GM can't see how good the team really is, and since he was ready to give up on them at the trade deadline, then his talent evaluation skills are not nearly sufficient.
My dream scenario...

I don't want a GM that is clueless about the real level of talent on the team.
The very worst situation is having a GM that dismantles a winning team because he is clueless.
Can you name an example of a coach in NHL history that said at the trade deadline...
"Things aren't changing, so we have to get rid of the guys who have been here the longest...." And then the GM tries to trade the Captain despite a NTC... And then they go on to win the CUP? If the Blues win the CUP, it would be the biggest FU from the players to the GM in NHL history.
At the moment, the BLUES are winning, but the GM is losing face. That is a very bad long-term situation.

That's your proof a team is great at drafting?a smell of green grass wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 14:59 pmFor the record...sdaltons wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 14:39 pm Them saying they'll leave if the Blues "do well" reminds me of Trollin stating he would eat crow if Broberg "did well" but not offering any indication of what criteria would be used to determine how "well" he had done.
Basically allowing him to leave open whatever outcome for future twisting.
If Broberg gets 30 points, he would have needed 35. Or it needed to be +10 instead of +5.
If the Blues lose in the second round, it will have needed to be the 3rd, etc.
I never thought Broberg would be bad. In fact, I assumed that he would be great. A team that drafted McDavid and Draisitl is VERY LIKELY to have more great draft talent.
If the Blues win more than 1 game in the playoffs, I will exit.
I also believed that Army DID try to trade Schenn, and many told me that I was crazy for believing that. Now we all know that it happened.
This attempted trade of Schenn by Army told you 2 things about Army...
1) He doesn't know talent -- IF THE BLUES DO WELL IN THE PLAYOFFS.
2) He is just fine with forcing a guy out with a NTC--even if he is the Captain. Army is ruthless, but he comes across as Mr Gentile...blowing kisses to players on the way out the door.

Just settle down, guys. Don't kill the messenger. If you don't understand the messenger, or can't grasp the facts, just crawl off the ice to the other threads. Maybe the speed of the game more matches your skating over there.netboy65 wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 16:39 pmFor the good of the board right?schwartzwatch wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 16:29 pmThis is probably unconditionala smell of green grass wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 14:24 pm Nobody will be more positive than me if the facts point that way.

If GM A has a bad team & thinks it's good & GM B has a good team but thinks it's bad & dismantles the team to where it's bad what exactly is the difference? At the end you have a bad team either way. If it makes you feel better about your GM having positive vibes on his way yo building a bad team OK, but you still have a bad team.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 16:35 pmPerfectly.sdaltons wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 16:23 pmDo you even understand what you wrote here?a smell of green grass wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 15:06 pmWhat is worse?stlblues1979 wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 14:52 pmInsanity isn't it? At the end of the day if the Blues do well literally no one but you will say "but he wanted to trade away his captain". They'll just look at all the additions he made as positives that helped create a good team. You're the only person (possibly in the world) who thinks Army is "losing face" as his team is surging.

Being open to listening to offers that may greatly improve your team is in fact not giving up on the team, it is the exact opposite of that.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 16:03 pm Not one person has acknowledged that "Army did give up on the team in 2025" based on his attempting to trade Captain Schenn. The next questions are....
1. So how uncomfortable is Army getting with each WIN? He is looking worse and worse with each WIN.
2. Is the team happy to make Army look like a fool?
What it is, is him being an open minded GM who if the opportunity arises to make his team better, and if it doesn't meet his ask then he stays pat and lets the team show him he was right.
That's exactly what happened here. THE TEAM HE BUILT is making a run for the playoffs and has quickly become a very feared team to play in a playoff round.

That's another thing the OP seems to be inferring that Army had a trade in place & Schenn vetoed it. I never heard that Schenn trade talks ever really got serious. Honestly it would have been malpractice not to at least see what the market for Schenn was, especially given where we were in the standings at the time.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 16:48 pmBeing open to listening to offers that may greatly improve your team is in fact not giving up on the team, it is the exact opposite of that.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑01 Apr 2025 16:03 pm Not one person has acknowledged that "Army did give up on the team in 2025" based on his attempting to trade Captain Schenn.
