I’ve been to high school games at Busch with more fans in attendance….
Someone predicted this would be ugly in ‘25…..

Terrible, goldfan. Just awful.

However you want to respond Cranny……this is on BDW. This issue isn’t with just some disgruntled rouge CT posters. A large portion of the Cards fan base who have been there for decades for BDW are staying home.

Exactly. It was never how much they spent. It's how they spent it. Stupid unnecessary extensions to aging players, poor free agent signings and always, ALWAYS saving that dry powder. There must be a warehouse somewhere with that stuff.

With the auto tariffs on foreign cars starting April 2nd ,
Many fans are at car dealerships shopping before the prices get jacked by thousands of dollars . Saw them on the news tonight.

There have been many low quality visiting teams visit the stadium since it opened.
But the crowd has never looked like it has the past 2 games.
That is not the fault of the Twins or Angels.

Just watched hilights from game today. Pretty sparse crowd in the outfield all game. I guess it’s what we expected after the last two seasons and the pronouncement from Mo to pretty much accept mediocrity but man it makes me sad to see the lack of interest.

Eh, the boring Twins were the opponent, and the weather was iffy.

Yeah, “the OPPOSING team isn’t interesting enough” and
“what if I get wet?” sounds wayyyyyyy better on the BFIB reputation as opposed to “we’re starting to get sick of the complacency” when explaining why the opening day weekend crowd was unimpressive……..

I guess the forecast thunderstorms had nothing to do with it.

Man, you can come up with more excuses. Advance ticket sales have nothing to do with a weather forecast.

My entire life
Kids have attended School
There’s been weather
Games have started around 7pm
Games have been on Holidays
And when theres been an exciting winning team……..with an ownership that seemed to give 2 chits……Busch Stadium has been mostly full
But now that the team hasn’t been winning or playing exciting baseball with an owner who seems to no longer care to win…..attendance is solely affected by the items listed above

A contributing factor might be that inflation has lowered the family recreational budget somewhat.

MLB Attendance through the first 2-4 games of the teams that have been at home has been up by 1,114 per game. And that is unjustly affected by TB being in a minor league park vs MLB park (a 10,815 difference per game).

Right now of the 16 teams with a home game, we have the biggest decrease yoy per game (-6,363) outside of TB.

And if that pace kept for us, it would put our attendance at 2.36 million for the season. And if everything else stayed the same that puts us around 17th in the game.

In other words ownership better hope the team keeps playing like they have or they could be looking at a bottom half team in attendance.

What's kind of astonishing is that if attendance throughout MLB were proportional to home market size, NY and LA would be at the top every year (and they are), and St. Louis would be around 25th. The fact that the team finished in the top five (and usually top three) in attendance every season between 2000-2019 is pretty remarkable given that we're in one of the smallest media markets in baseball. But stay mediocre long enough, and the fans will eventually stop showing up. Even in Baseball Heaven.
