Maybe Contreras and Winn should stop tryin for homers everytine

Post by Cardly »

Either these guys are injured or both seem to be swinging for 5 run homers every time they bat. Grief!

+1
Winn was so good taking the ball to right field last year so I agree.
Contreras is overthinking it.
He needs to use the middle of the field also.

Contreras simply needs to swing the bat faster. A lot faster. Or shorten his swing drastically.

Much too slow getting the bat into motion nevermind through the zone.

Lot of experts here. It’s called a slow start. 3 1/2 out of 162. Settle the Fruck down.

Yeah, your 2 stoopid choices are the only reasonable ones

It's no secret how Contreras and Winn are being pitched...high fastballs. They are chasing them, can't lay off them and can't catch up with them.

There's no shame in taking walks, forcing pitchers to pitch in the strike zone.

Neither one of these guys is showing any plate discipline. They are pressing and chasing everything. Winn struck out on a ball high out of the zone.

WillyC doing the same thing, getting himself out.

I agree, and you had pointed out WillyC in your previous post.

Trying to hit homeruns and swing faster. Please have better analysis than that.

I agree w/Winn who for some reason see's himself as a power hitter instead of the lightweight, slap hitter he should be.

I'm not concerned about WillyC, just a rough start to the season but he'll be fine.

Has Winn attempted a bunt this season?

at minimum, Winn needs to change his two-strike approach.
cut down on the swing and make contact.

Boy, you got that right . Hitting a baseball and missing a baseball on a swing is a very fine line.
When your timing is a bit off, it is called a 'cold streak' . When ON , you are in a 'hot streak' .
Right now, Contreras and Winn are in cold streaks . Noot in a hot streak .

If a guy ends up with .250 average for the year , he is not going 1 for 4 every night at the park.
He may go 3 or 4 games hitless and go 0 for 12 or 0 for 16 ... then for another 4 games he goes 8 for 16 ... so from .000 to .500 Combine the two and you have his .250 batting average.
I think most would agree here that Brewers Yelich has been a very good career hitter. Have seen him go thru streaks like Contreras/Winn also .
It happens to the All Stars too .

Willing to guess in a few weeks when Noot goes on a 1 for 20 run that 'experts' here will weigh in on why he isn't getting hits .. he is doing X, Y, and Z now.
