Snuggy In Joseph Out

Post by stljrs »

Based on practice lines today as reported on 101.1.
Snuggy was out with Bolduc and SunnyD.
Guess he gets his first start tomorrow night against Detroit.
They also mentioned Joseph had one shift in the 3rd period against the Avalanche.
Monty plays 1,2,4 when the pressure is on. So the 3rd line gets a bit sheltered as it is.
They could also see where they could switch Neighbors and Bolduc in game given how well Bolduc has been playing.

....as my Virginia bred Grandma would exclaim." Great Day in the Mornin'!"
If the third line starts producing, and Parayko returns.....

While my Grandma might be right, on further review, Joseph did a heck of a job covering ground that Sunny is unable to cover., at this point in his career.
The Third Line's plus minus has at least been decent.

last 2 games Joseph got minimal time, both under 10 minutes. Previous 3 games he played more than sunny. Maybe it's because of how the last couple games went. But I don't think the 3rd line necessarily plays "sheltered" minutes. It's very much situational. Because if you look at the 4th liners stats, it goes up and down as well. definitely a depending on the day thing. But it's clear the last 2 games Joseph was in more of the doghouse

I'm not big on Joseph but I've come to respect his contributions as well.

One thing I noticed when Dvo played is Joseph appeared to constantly be talking to him throughout the game. Must have been nice to have a vet (sort of lol) chatting him up and hopefully helping him calm down and get comfortable.

I really appreciate Joseph's speed and how well he's executing Monty's game plan. He's truly earned his spot in the lineup with his performance over the past nine games, and it would be tough to see him taken out.

I agree. MJ has been playing well in his limited minutes.

I think realistically thats the only player you can drop.

Our 3rd line is odd, it really doesnt get much ES time.

Sunny will play on other lines if we are looking to close out games. Bolduc is on the PP.

Joseph hasnt looked bad, but you can definitely switch him out.

With Snuggy's one timer - a righty .... and Holloway's one timer ... a lefty ... imagine those two on the same PP unit! Although it makes more sense to split them up.

And Bolduc has been ripping it from the slot!!!

I'd rather see Bolduc w/Thomas and drop Neighbours to the 3rd with Sunny and Snuggerud. Only thing is who's going to distribute the puck to Snuggerud? I guess they want to work on his play in all three zones and away from the puck to start. Not a bad plan.

Guess is they really want to see Snuggerud on the PP, so this is how they shoehorn him into the lineup.

Yea I think some people are being kind of harsh on him here. He’s no special talent (by NHL standards) but I certainly haven’t hated what I’ve seen when he’s gotten his chances. He plays the role decently.

That said, someone’s gotta sit for JS to play and he’s the logical choice

Joseph has the worst plus-minus on the team, followed by Sunny. This isn't an anomaly. If you're looking to find PT for the two young guys, look no further. Faksa isn't great either, but he can win faceoffs and is a 0 +/-.
