Thunderbirds win today 3-2 over Providence

Post by hockey jedi »

Stancl played, but didn't do much.

Alexandrov had two goals and an assist to bring his totals to 21G 27A and 48 points. I hope he's turned the corner and not a career minor leaguer. He might be good trade bait this summer.

I'd like to see him brought up for the playoffs if there's room. If not then I'd like to see him given a shot out of camp next year that lasts until the All Star break. He's young and should be cheap if he proves himself unless he blows up.

I don't know whether his game is best suited for a scoring line or as a 4th liner. What do you think?

I think he's a top nine forward. He had the most goals at the WJC's and second most points. I could see a kid line of Snuggerud, Dvo and Stancl on the third line next year.

I think our 2025-2026 starting day forwards will be Thomas, Kyrou, Holloway, Neighbours, Bolduc, Buch, Schenn, Walker, Faksa, Toro and Sunny. Faksa and Sunny are the most vulnerable and who knows how much they have in the tank. I believe Joseph and Texier will not be with the Blues next year.

I suspect the Blues will keep one of three of Dvo, Snuggerud and Stancl to start the year, and then bring the others up if someone falters or gets hurt.

I'm not convinced you can move Texier and Joseph but maybe

I will say that Joseph blocks a lot of shots and better than i expected. He is a lanky forward too, so with those qualities I think he is suited for the penalty kill. I always worry when we put our best forwards like Thomas and Buch out to kill penalties where they risk higher injury.
Too bad Joseph's scoring has been so poor. He sometimes shows the drive to the net and an accurate shot, but he is a role player they could replace with a better skilled shooter..but defense and penalty kill may be sacrificed

Oh, I didn't mean to imply I didn't appreciate the contributions of Texier and Joseph this year for sure. But I believe Snuggerud and Dvo will be more productive offensively. I do respect the dirty work that Texier and Joseph do on defense and their tenacious forechecking.

What are you hoping Alexandrov will fetch in a trade?

I don't know his value, but maybe he's a late bloomer. Maybe he could used as a sweetner in a package. Or maybe he's a tweener that will always put up solid AHL numbers, but can't contribute at the NHL level. I'm sure in time he can be discouraged enough to head back to Germany.

I know he passes a it too often, but he does everything that is ever asked of him and he busts his tail doing it.

The after effects of being forced to center a grossly immature Kyrou in the dismal half-season after Chief was ignominiously [shirt]-canned might still be wearing off.

Buch does the dirty work, and few do it better and more invisibly.

I believe Alexandrov can be a very good bottom six player for this team someday.
