A player hits a shot to right field and the runner on first gets forced at second and the out is charged to the hitter.

But then the same player gets a double the next AB from a misplayed ball that the OFer didn't touch.

I was thinking that Scott would have been better off if his grounder had hit Pages, then he would have been credited with a hit. Scott didn't look too pleased about the FC.

What player are you talking about? Victor Scott has 0 doubles. OldRed was referring to Scott’s line drive to RF that Pages got thrown out at 2B at.
But Scott did turn it into a double as he stole 2B.

But then you have........
Easy ground ball right at an infielder that hits a runner = base hit for the hitter and the runner is out.

You can't blame him, but if he hits well enough to play every day, he'll get his share of seeing eye singles or broken bat bloop doubles. In baseball, it all seems to even out.

I’m referring to in general.
Not every fielders choice, hit or out is deserved.

We may go the rest of the season and not see a baserunner forced on a ground ball to right field.

Yea. The rule is bad. When it'(poop) to an outfielder it should be called "base hit to right , Pages thrown out on runner indifference"
Reminds me of a few years ago when carpenter was on third base, and someone (can't remember who) hit a line drive that dropped in left field, but carpenter was thrown out. Only time ever ever seen that, but it wasn't a force, so I think batter was still credited with a hit.

Yes, and one of worse baserunning plays I've ever seen.

Possibly, Old Red but remember Scott has the disadvantage (at least with 8th placement in order to batting behind catchers who are a spot or two ahead of him in batting order. Guys like Contreras , Nado have much less chance to have Pages on base ahead of their at bat.
