Who are you surprised that's not on this list? Ted Simmons maybe? https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/ra ... b8b7&ei=11

I would flop him and Brock. That would make Albert #4 and Brock #5.

Was Hornsby really an even better RH hitter than Pujols? Wonder if Hornsby faced the pitching velocity that Pujols did. Hornsby did have some eye-popping batting averages.

Big fan of L. Brock but A. Pujols absolutely goes ahead of Lou.

Stan the Man---Hornsby---Gibby---Albert

Outside of the Yankees, not sure another franchise can match that quartet. :D

Agree 100%. By today’s standards that about a $2b dollar investment for BDW if MO’s ego could take the leadership qualities these 4 bring.

I can't even imagine what those four would command in today's MLB when they hit free agency given what J. Soto just got and Vlad, Jr is asking for.

$2B may be too low. 8O

It’s Musial Albert. Then Gibby as he was a pitcher.

I hate post like this. Hornsby faced the best players of his era and did things nobody did before or after.

Stan, Hornsby, Gibson, Albert, Ozzie, Lou, Medwick, ....the rest of the HOFers, and red jackets.

Judge them against their competition.

Hornsby the only player to hit 40 HR while batting .400 in a single season. Hornsby won two Triple Crowns. For 5 straight seasons Hornsby's cumulative BA was .400.

Hornsby remains the greatest RH hitter in MLB history.

It's a stupid list. Purposely stupid.

Where is Dizzy Dean? Joe Medwick? Simmons & Yadi? And I love Brock, but he was nowhere near the player Albert was. And Flood was a childhood favorite, but he doesn't belong on this list. Edmonds was better. Boyer may just be my All Time favorite, but he doesn't belong here either.

My point exactly. Hornsby dominated the 20's like no other NL player and second place is amazingly distant.

Wonder how the players of Hornsby's era compared to the players of Pujols' era. Especially, the pitching with more of the bullpen emphasis in Pujols' era.

FWIW, I hear you MDT. But it’s mindless fun with such a great historical franchise. Good baseball discussions on Simba vs Yadi example. I agree though, as much as I love Flood from my childhood I’ll take JE as my CF’r,

Agree on Stan/Hornsby/Gibson/Albert
I understand the sentiment toward Albert who was a generational hitter.
But I have read many who have called Hornsby the greatest RH of All Time!
Over a five year period in his prime he AVERAGED:
.402
29 HR’s
120 RBI’s

He hit over .400 across a 5 year period.
The greatest accomplishment by any hitter in history.
