Snuggy Season Over
In OT Minnesota loses
Re: Snuggy Season Over
Correction:
Minnesota's season is over.
Snuggles will almost certainly be signing with Springfield or St. Louis to finish the season.

Re: Snuggy Season Over
It looked like the whole team sort of stopped after the no call on the tripping. They were definitely distracted by the no call because there was a lot of standing around as UMASS down the ice.

Looked like a sure fire trip live but on the replay I’d say Chelsey simply blew a tire. For once, a good non-call by the refs.
Where the refs effed the Gophers was when their goalie had a pad issue and they wouldn’t give them the time to fix the lace and they were forced to put the backup in. 4 seconds later, UMass scores to tie it. They then put the starter back in but what a turn of events.
Re: Snuggy Season Over
That was ridiculous. Clearly it was an equipment issue that could be fixed relatively quickly. Not a stall tactic.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑27 Mar 2025 23:57 pmLooked like a sure fire trip live but on the replay I’d say Chelsey simply blew a tire. For once, a good non-call by the refs.

I hope very much we see a Snuggles signing within the next couple of days.
Get him down in Springfield, perhaps even a NHL game, and away we go.

I've seen one reputable person on X say if he just signs ELC and plays 0 games this year, he burns a year of ELC. Another said he has to play 1 game to burn a year. Which is it?

Either way, if he doesn't sign in the next couple days, Army/Steen will have to trade his rights.

Why wouldn't Snuggerud sign with the Blues?Section315 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2025 07:11 am I've seen one reputable person on X say if he just signs ELC and plays 0 games this year, he burns a year of ELC. Another said he has to play 1 game to burn a year. Which is it?

Hated to see it. It would have been cool to see him go from a Gophers locker room at Enterprise to a Blues locker room.
Although the way this team is playing he had no chance of playing sort of an injury catastrophe.

Indeed. He knows a team that is winning now needs him and wants him, if not immediately, then very soon; the future is bright for the team and will be even brighter with him. His motivation for staying at the U was to physically grow and improve, and win a championship. That puck bounced the wrong way; brush the snow off and get onboard. It's to his advantage to sign now and for the Blues as well. So what, he RFAs a year sooner...that timing would have been the same had he been in Springfield on a losing team to further develop.
Sorry his team lost...glad his team lost. Now he can hang around during the playoffs, even if he sees limited time, but get that preparation feel and experience.

Minnesota should have won the National Championship in 2023, when they had a stacked team - Faber, Knies, Logan Cooley, and Snuggerud, among others. That was a great team, but they lost the final game to Quinnipiac in OT. Snuggerud has to realize it’s not going to happen, so time to move on. The fact that the Blues look like one of the most exciting young teams in the NHL should be pretty good motivation for him!

It depends on where he’s assigned. If it’s to the Blues then he’ll burn the first year of his 3 year ELC. If it’s to Springfield, then he’ll be on an ATO there for the rest of this season and then his ELC will start next season.Section315 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2025 07:11 am I've seen one reputable person on X say if he just signs ELC and plays 0 games this year, he burns a year of ELC. In the end, it likely doesn’t matter much. And oftentimes, a player being a RFA one season sooner helps the team. Let’s say he burns a year. Has a decent rookie season next season and then a solid but unspectacular sophomore season. Then he’s a UFA. The Blues will then be able to re-sign him for a mediocre amount for a few years. Then the next season he blows up (like what Holloway is doing this year). The Blues will still have him at a cheap price for another year or two. If the first year hasn’t been burned, he would’ve been a RFA after the season he blew up and due a huge extension.
So sometimes teams can luck into that sort of situation. I doubt they care much about burning a year if that’s what it takes to get him signed.

Yep, that was the year. Ranked #1 all year and they lose it 10 seconds into OT on a set play their D bit hard on. That team had Jackson LaCombe and Ryan Johnson too. It was the D pair of LaCombe and Michael Koster that bit on that set play.Frank Underwood wrote: ↑28 Mar 2025 08:04 am Minnesota should have won the National Championship in 2023, when they had a stacked team - Faber, Knies, Logan Cooley, and Snuggerud, among others. I’ll be shocked if Snuggy returns again. In fact, I expect a pretty drastic mass exodus from the Gophers - Sam Rinzel, Oliver Moore, Matthew Wood…probably Ryan Chesley and Connor Kurth too. These guys will say their goodbyes over the next day or two but I expect pretty much all of them to sign NHL deals by this weekend.
Re: Snuggy Season Over
If he had signed last year, like many of us hoped, this year would have been burned anyway. So I say bring him in!!
I'd have preferred he have the experience of his team going further, but it wasn't to be, so get him here, let him be around the guys, think about a game or two towards the end (when we hopefully have things locked up).
