Re: Jevon Porter
Hope he is not too of a finesse player. He is 6 feet 11 and 235, likely can do a lot for the inside game and still float outside. Will be interesting to see who else Gates can pick up.

Yeah. I know what you mean. I have never watched him play, so I don't know what his strengths / weaknesses are; or what role he can best fill for the team. I'll leave that to the others on here who know way more about him than I do.
Re: Jevon Porter
Porter sdeems pretty athletic for 6'11". He really likes to put up the 3's.tigerfan69 wrote: ↑27 Mar 2025 13:22 pm Yeah. I know what you mean. Not an SEC talent based on 3yr stats. It's a body - I thought MU already had some of those? Also is the DUI no longer a factor with MU? I guess after IL played an alleged rapist, everything goes now.

Re: Jevon Porter
Shouldn't be a starter, maybe first off the bench. Not the big we need.

If he can rebound and defend, he'll be a positive addition.

Re: Jevon Porter
That is about what Mizzou has done. Although basketball has amazing facilities so it’s nothing to sneeze at.
I like the pick up. 6’11” and athletic, with the last name Porter. Even if he’s not a superstar, it’s a good pickup. Hopefully he is a superstar. That would be great.

Good write up and breakdown (with videos) on Porter at RockMNation:

Interesting to see what this means for Pierce.

Re: Jevon Porter
As others have pointed out, the KenPom A/B is lackluster.
I thought MU was finally clear of the Becker sisters, and then this. Incredible.

Re: Jevon Porter
Good. 6'11" and athletic ... can only help this team. Look at the teams left in the dance.
Re: Jevon Porter
who knows how this will turn out after he had a down year last. He is a Porter is tall and can spell Mitchell at forward and since this is his last year and MU does have a big Assistant hopefully he does well at home.
is it exciting or sexy pick? no and have little faith in current staff to coach up or improve someone like him unless Gates does what he has to do bring in more experienced assistants to teach fundamentals.
Go MU BB and all we can do is wait and see how it all turns out. HAVE to get some bigtime scorers with last 2 spots. right now roster is underwhelming.

Well, it can't be overwhelming. We know who's not coming back. The portal just opened, so we don't know who's coming and won't for a while.right now roster is underwhelming.
Therefore, every team right now has an underwhelming roster for next year.

Re: Jevon Porter
Not sure about this get. We already have a 6'10" guy who hangs around the 3 line and shoots around 32%. On the surface it seems to be more of the same type guy Gates likes, tall guys who do not play inside effectively and would rather shoot threes. Is he worth taking on the chance he could surprise, probably, as long as you don't count on him to be the guy down low. Gates needs to do better than the Gray and Crews type guys with the rest of his portal picks.hdhntr148 wrote: ↑28 Mar 2025 09:37 am who knows how this will turn out after he had a down year last.
