In fairness, we all kind of thought that. Broberg seemed like the big get. I don't think anyone truly knew what we had in Holloway.
Yep, we blew it. Winning the Cup in ‘19 we could have had a high pick and that guy would be coming into his prime about now. What were we thinking???a smell of green grass wrote: ↑26 Mar 2025 14:50 pm Sincere question for the fans that wave their hands over their pants, not pom poms over their skirt.
Broberg and Holloway entered the NHL via high draft picks. The Blues need more like them.
How do you foresee that the Blues will acquire more like them?
That is the question that should be asked around these parts.
Be careful how you use "we", even rhetorically. "We" did not think that. After watching the Offer sheet boys in the playoffs, even in limited ice time, I was pretty high on them.WeWentBlues0819 wrote: ↑26 Mar 2025 14:09 pmIn fairness, we all kind of thought that. Agreed. Broberg and Holloway were two of the better players on the ice in the Stanley Cup Finals last year. I understand the Oilers letting Broberg go with the offer sheet based on their salary cap issues and Broberg no longer wanting to be part of the organization. However, it never made sense for them to not match the offer sheet for Holloway at 2.2 mill per year. Whoever you get to take his roster spot will cost at least a million. You have to find that extra million + somehow to keep him. Thankfully, they chose not to match.DawgDad wrote: ↑26 Mar 2025 18:23 pmBe careful how you use "we", even rhetorically. Yeah I hear ya. I was optimistically hoping for more than a 20 goal scorer at his max.WeWentBlues0819 wrote: ↑26 Mar 2025 14:09 pmIn fairness, we all kind of thought that. Broberg seemed like the big get. I don't think anyone truly knew what we had in Holloway.
There's no way he hears what he's saying. I can't imagine being so hell-bent on the team being terrible just to get top 5 draft picks. Where does it end? A team is terrible and drafts high. Said high picks take time to arrive, and if they don't develop into stars, the losing continues. We continue to get high picks. No guarantee those actually pan out. So more losing. How long will fans accept a team that's terrible? Five years? Ten years? It's mind numbing how little he understands about the game.netboy65 wrote: ↑26 Mar 2025 15:28 pmYep, we blew it. Do you hear yourself?
If the team keeps playing this way and makes the playoffs UFA signing is more plausible although also usually more expensive and will involve some NTC years.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑26 Mar 2025 14:50 pm Sincere question for the fans that wave their hands over their pants, not pom poms over their skirt.

Are you shocked? The same idiot running them who couldn't figure out cap/contracts with the blackhawks.dhsux wrote: ↑27 Mar 2025 07:57 am That thread had finally died down to page 2 level but has reared its ugly head since the recent scoring of the 2 players.
Broberg is going to be a top pairing D man that could be playing 20 min a night for them right now.. Holloway has outscored the 3 players (totals) they brought in for their big Cup run.
It's a huge fiasco, complete mismanagement with long term ramifications.
I'd be pizzzzed too but fortunately the Blues have one of the best GMS in the league.....so I'm quite happy.
I was always a fan of Broberg but I'm not claiming special insight. I'll say this too. We probably don't get Walman if we kept Broberg. Walman might be better this season.
Also we are a playoff focused team. Jeff Skinner and Arvidsson have a chance to prove their worth
these are the same 'fans' that said Broberg would be a 6/7 dman and Holloway would be lucky to get reg 4th line mins.. and both should be grateful to get their minimum contractsTheJackBurton wrote: ↑27 Mar 2025 09:46 am This is absolute cope
