Nolan Gorman
He just finished up spring training with a 21.4% K rate. That K rate over 56 PAs represents his best strikeout rate in a “month” as a MLB player, in either ST or regular season, since 2020 ST, and that ST was half the time.
Should we take that as a positive and perhaps a sign of Brown’s work with him working in the right direction?

Re: Nolan Gorman
His walk rate is 5.7% and all other indicators suggest he’s not making good contact. I wouldn’t base any conclusions on ST stats… and latching on to one metric to support a theory is generally a mistake.
Or maybe forget that… let’s just say he’s on a path to a breakout season, for no substantive reason. Go Norman!

Re: Nolan Gorman
he'll be whiffing and his back will be flaring up in about a month
Re: Nolan Gorman
Well by all means mark Gorman down for 6 home runs and 18 runs batted in after 6 months of baseball in 2025.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 00:18 am He just finished up spring training with a 21.4% K rate. Maybe it means he’s trying some different things.

Re: Nolan Gorman
At this point we have to take Gorman's lower KO rate and Walker getting the ball in the air more this spring as positives.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 00:18 am He just finished up spring training with a 21.4% K rate. This could end up being a make or break, sink or swim year for Norman, I think they'll stick at least one more year w/Walker if he struggles again.
Pivotal year for both, I'd take their 2023 stats and see that as them moving back in the right direction.
Re: Nolan Gorman
He was given the most plate appeareances and delivered a .232 OBA. Mario Mendoza's career oba was .245. I know, "he's Mario Mendoza with power."

It’s all about beef tallow popcorn
Re: Nolan Gorman
I view Gorman as a Garcia candidate.

Re: Nolan Gorman
He fell off a cliff last season. especially after May and a streak in July.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑24 Mar 2025 00:18 am He just finished up spring training with a 21.4% K rate. This ST, his Babip is bad, unfortunately may be due to infield pop ups.
He has changed from the very few PA's I've seen.
Shoulder in and slightly lower. Less first pitch strikes, less swinging strikes,
Higher contact percentage.
Will the process take hold and work.
Will he buy into the process? Maybe, he fell into such a deep hole
and looked so badly lost, that I'd think he'd commit.
Results matter though.
If all it does is shift how he makes outs and he's doesn't drive the ball he'll
look for something else.
