Tarasenko last night on SNH

Post by Uncle John »

The ABC crew on Saturday Night Hockey last night on channel 30 criticized Tarasenko badly for not blocking a shot in front of the Detroit net that resulted in a Vegas goal. They went off on him. Saying he shouldn't be on the ice.

He's been useless for some time. Detrimental, honestly.

But-but-but....!!!! There's just nooo WAAAAY the Blues could possibly have a better record when Tarasenko didn't play during his last few seasons. It HAS to be an anomaly. Not the beloved Vladdy!

Said it for years: one player can throw a line out of whack. One line out of whack can prevent the 4-lines from working in unison (such as the unison we're currently witnessing) and thus destroy team chemistry.

I don’t think you can compare that 91 to the current version

Oh I'll give him credit where due. He was great during the Cup run and had an unreal bounceback season after his injury. But outside that bounceback season, his last few years here were wildly disappointing.

When I think of Vladi I will always think of the pass he made to Schenn in game 7 and that is a great memory.

Wonder if it had anything to do with the team docs forgetting to attach ligaments during surgery 2 that impacted his longevity.... his best weapon was always his shot can't rip it like he used too...

Can bag on him if you like but be honest about the situation.

He was one of the best goal scorers in the league in the mid 2010's.

He was a fantastic player for us, and was a big part of our cup team.

We parted ways at absolutely the right time though.

Let another team pay him for past glories.

He was hurt, too, for awhile. I remember seeing him last season with Ottawa and he looked disinterested. With Florida he played hockey again. I cannot speak for why that is but I don't respect it if it was more than a one game anomaly.

Trying to be a Thrashers fan down here in Atlanta, Vladi helped inspire me to follow the Blues more closely again. He was a good player. He needs to be where his heart is, playing or retired.

He was always out of shape. Can’t carry around 240 on 6” frame in the off-season and compete. He was ripped by many coaches for it. People projected the Semin trajectory well before his injury/surgeries. You could just tell he wouldn’t make it.

I stayed out of the fray on this board while he was here. Will always be a Cup Champ on our greatest team ever. After the injury the shot was never the same. He never played strong in all three zones and my personal feeling was many on the team who were giving that effort didn't respect him. I'd say Kyrou is more of what I'd like to see in a goal scoring winger. At least he's learned to play a 200 ft game. Vova never did.

I have a somewhat better impression of Vladi defensively in his prime, through the Cup season, but I never saw him play in person. He was a real threat to score. The year before the Cup the Schwartz-Schenn-Tarasenko line was one of the best in the League before Schwartz got hurt.

This. I am not sure why people do not celebrate the fact that the Blues got the best years of his career and his contribution to us winning the cup.

Tarasenko in his prime was one of the top goal scorers in the league which is why they put him on the cover of EA Sports. During the six seasons between 2013-2019, he was #2 in total goals scored in the league. Unfortunately injuries and father time caught up with him.

No joke, I watch that goal on Youtube several times a week. The Sanford one too because of how crazy Perron went.

And that is what I will remember about Sanford. Well plus Bobbo tuning him up in practice.
