I can't get over how amazing this goal was today. 3 times guys batted the puck in mid-air like baseball swings, first Kyrou, then Holloway, leading to Thomas's finish. What a goal!

More talent now on this team than in years. Kyrou and Holloway can fly. Thomas is super skilled. Good times ahead as they enter their primes.
Re: Thomas Goal, Amazing!
That is the first goal I remember that we had two passes and a shot without the puck touching the ice. I am still not sure on the rule for hitting a puck above the cross bar. Kyrou and Holloway’s touches both seemed above the cross bar, but maybe that rule is only on the shot.
Re: Thomas Goal, Amazing!
I thought the same thing when they showed the replay but I think it was just the angle. If the puck is played with a high stick, the play is dead, so the goal wouldn't have counted if any of them were high. I think there was a very quick review.rezero wrote: ↑22 Mar 2025 21:58 pm That is the first goal I remember that we had two passes and a shot without the puck touching the ice. I think the rule would be the Kyrou and Holloway touches had to be below their shoulder height. Thomas’s had to be below the crossbar.sdaltons wrote: ↑22 Mar 2025 23:05 pmI thought the same thing when they showed the replay but I think it was just the angle. That is such an insane rule...How are you going to allow Parayko to play pucks in spaces where Walker is not allowed to? Makes me question the qualifications of those making these rules.bluetunehead wrote: ↑23 Mar 2025 00:39 amI think the rule would be the Kyrou and Holloway touches had to be below their shoulder height. It's analogous to the strike zone in baseball, being determined by the batter's letters & knees. That's why the St. Louis Browns owner Bill Veeck signed midget Eddie Gaedel, so he could pinch-hit and get a Walk in a crucial game.skilles wrote: ↑23 Mar 2025 03:15 amThat is such an insane rule...How are you going to allow Parayko to play pucks in spaces where Walker is not allowed to? Re: Thomas Goal, Amazing!
You have the correct interpretation of the high stick rule. To score it cant be touched above the crossbar. To play the puck, other than to score a goal, it cant be touched above the player shoulders.bluetunehead wrote: ↑23 Mar 2025 00:39 amI think the rule would be the Kyrou and Holloway touches had to be below their shoulder height. Watching the replay on my brand new hi-def big screen TV it was a good goal. Amazing goal, maybe once in a lifetime.FunSeeker wrote: ↑23 Mar 2025 10:50 amYou have the correct interpretation of the high stick rule. To score it cant be touched above the crossbar. It would be a bad idea to let these guys just swat at anything they can get their sticks on - you gotta have some restraint on high sticks.
It goes to RT's athleticism that he had the control to wait on that puck till he could get it in legally, and execute. The hand/eye & manual dexterity of these NHLers is something to behold.
