Re: I guess we're down to Scott v Siani and Pallante v McGreevy
Go back to the old Cardinals with the best base stealer 1st. Putting that person down at the bottom with him surrounded by others limits them all. Now Scott is trying to hit homers to prove a point and management acts like they are blind and oblivious to what is demonstrated by their players is asinine. Realistically why not bat Scott 1st? Is this a year to transition or just another lie? What is wrong with 25 when allegedly they are not expected to win by National prognosticators and TEAM management demonstration from the start. Where would Cardinal History be batting Vince Coleman and Lou Brock 7th/8th? They don't even recognize their own historical success. The most success they have ever had historically has been by putting pressure on the other team. Instead, they remain asleep

C-Herrera, Pages
1B-Contreras
2B-Gorman
SS-Winn
3B-Arenado
LF-Donovan
CF-Scott, Nootbaar
RF-Walker
DH-Burleson, Baker
Bench OF = Scottvs Siani vs Barrero vs Helman vs Koperniak vs Vilade
Bench IF = Ferminvs Barrero vs Saggese vs Helman
I've moved into the Scott camp for OD; ride the hot bat; Walker, Gorman, Burleson, Scott can take turns sitting and still play 3 of 4 games.
SP-Gray, Fedde, Mikolas, Matz, Pallante, McGreevy
RP = Helsley, Fernandez, Romero, King, Libby, Roycroft, Leahy, Maton
Maton still has not appeared in a ST game. Gray looks not ready.
I see Maton opening the season on the IL since he hasn't pitched yet. Until he's ready, let McGreevy piggyback Pallante's starts.
Soon injuries will happen. Who knows, if they IL Gray, McGreevy could be the OD starter!
Good news: Leahy 11 IP, Romero 8 IP, Roycroft 8 IP, Mathews 6 IP, Granillo 4 IP, O'Brien 3 IP are all unscored upon in Spring Training.
Memphis guesses (starts season on Friday)
C Crooks, Collins
1B,DH Pozo, Vilade
2B Saggese, Helman
SS Barrero
3B Prieto, Mendoza
OF Koperniak, Siani, Torres, Antico
SP Mathews, Robberse, Munoz, Bedell, Graceffo, Hence
RP O'Brien, Granillo, Ralston, Garcia, Loutos, Heredia, Shreve? (they have a bunch of AAAA guys, too, but the IL will open up spots)

Yeah. Still it's the only reason he is getting so much playing time this spring that comes to mind.rockondlouie wrote: ↑21 Mar 2025 14:30 pmHe wouldn't even bring back a lotto ticket prospect.AZ_Cardsfan wrote: ↑21 Mar 2025 14:16 pmNo discussion here. thoroughly lose it.
That or we see the guy on the OD.
Re: I guess we're down to Scott v Siani and Pallante v McGreevy
Siani has already lost the CF job, the question is wether he will make the bench or not. Victor has definitely won the spot but he may be the odd man out due to other bats they want in the lineup. If they think they can get him enough at bats then they will keep him up. If Arenado had been traded he would already be the starting CF.renostl wrote: ↑22 Mar 2025 12:49 pmSince he was the last guy to hold the CF job, he is getting the opportunity toAZ_Cardsfan wrote: ↑22 Mar 2025 12:22 pmYeah. They are giving him every opportunity to lose his roster spot.
That would have been better phrasing as to why he may be getting the
questioned playing time.
Re: I guess we're down to Scott v Siani and Pallante v McGreevy
Haven’t heard Old Friend lately saying VS should start the season in AAA and Siani on the mlb roster.
Hmmm…
Hmmm…
Re: I guess we're down to Scott v Siani and Pallante v McGreevy
The fact those are the Cardinals two choices for an outfielder tells you how bad this team is and the fact the organization even considers Pallante is thought of as an equal to McGreevey tells you how inept this organization is.

Re: I guess we're down to Scott v Siani and Pallante v McGreevy
Are there options left on Siani, Fermin and Baker? Since Barrero is a non roster player, wouldn't he have the option to be a FA if he is not added to the 40 man roster? If he is added, I think the Cards will need to drop someone from the 40 man roster.

Can find that info here but i will also answer.
Fermin and baker have 1 option year remaining. Siani has 2
Re: I guess we're down to Scott v Siani and Pallante v McGreevy
All that non roster player means is that barrero isnt on our 40 man. Technically all our youbg players not on 40 man are non roster players.redbirdfan51 wrote: ↑23 Mar 2025 09:42 am Are there options left on Siani, Fermin and Baker? Barrero signed a minor league contract. Barrero cant elect to opt out unless that was included in an option in the minor league contract he signed. I doubt that it was. Thats usually reserved for former mlb players who think they can catch on if they impress but dont make roster like guys like allen craig who are trying to come back from down years. Barrero has no former track record in the majors so that is doubtful he got that in the contract and ive seen no mention of it.
