If the Cardinals had any other option, you would have to consider sending Winn down until he gets his footing. 2 more Ks today. He just seems lost at the plate with no sign of things getting any better but the Cardinals just don’t have another option.
Moving him down in the order seems like an option but would it really help? He’s just flailing away.
what is Brown doing about it, I wonder
I don’t know if Brown has hurt or helped but Winn just seems overmatched. It’s not like he’s facing Nolan Ryan in these games. Some good pitching but some bad pitching too. The pitcher doesn’t really seem to matter though.
I know one thing from reading stories with Winn quotes /comments , Masyn put himself in this bind NOT Brown. Cards coaching staff liked how Winn was hitting balls to right field last year and getting a lot of hits. Winn came into ST with the notion (by his own admission ) that he wanted to work on pulling the ball for more HR's . What a foolish mistake ! Someone asked why he would do that ... A guy like Winn sees that the most of the top paid free agent SS the last couple years were good at hitting HRs.. Baez swung stupid with the Cubs but did jack some HR's so Detroit paid him a boatload. Willy Adames (Brewers never hit much for averatge ) and certainly struck out a ton (usually most on Brewers ) but Adames could hit those 25-31 HR's the last couple years and bingo Giants offered him a ton of $$$$.
A real shame that Winn came to camp with the wrong approach and now he screwed himself up . Maybe Brown can turn him around yet but Winn now has to break some bad habits at the plate.

The jury is way out on Brown. He has a lot of work on his hands. Gorman, Walker, Arenado and now Winn. We shall see.
