Blows my buzz.
Speaking of one man being so right.....

If the Cardinals are serious about 2025 being the season which determines the plan for the years which follow, the CORRECT BASEBALL DECISION is as follows (against RH starters):

1. Scott - CF
2. Winn - SS
3. Donovan - 2B
4. Contreras - 1B
5. Burleson - DH
6. Gorman - 3B
7. Walker - RF
8. Pages / Herrera C (2-way competition)
9. Mootbaar / Koperniak / RH hitter (3-way competition)
You are close, but the correct baseball decision in your scenario would be:

1.) Nootbaar LF
2.) Donovan 2B
3.) Contreras 1B
4.) Arenado 3B
5.) Burleson DH
6.) Herrera C
7.) Walker RF
8 ) Winn SS
9.) Scott II CF

This gives you 2 OBP guys (Noot, Donovan) ahead of your 2 best run producers (Contreras, Arenado). Then you have a lefty (Burly) to round out your middle of the order. You place 2 guys with plus speed (Winn and Scott II) to connect to the top, where they can run in front of 2 patient hitters who are at the top.

Not an ideal lineup, but for what the Cards currently have (and in your scenario), as good as you can get.

If Scott shows he can be productive and get on base for an extended period of time, then perhaps he becomes the leadoff man (hopefully the long-term plan).

This is the correct baseball decision. Keep reading. Keep learning. It is what I do. :D
Did you note the qualifier I provided?
It stated: "If the Cardinals are serious about 2025 being the season which determines the plan for the years which follow...".
Which is why my lineup eliminated N/A and relegated Mootbaar to a part time platoon competition in the 9 spot.
Neither of those players have any significance for the future.
Easy.
Obvious.
Correct.
They obviously are not.
"Leadership's" behavior suggest you are correct.
Leadership. Seems to be a missing piece around here.

Here’s one- now that Lynn Carpenter Gibson Goldie and ??? Are gone, where is this years leadership.
Certainly not coming from the manager's chair or the front office.
The team belongs to Contreras and Gray it would appear.

Thanx for ur time. Yes appears last year the narrative was leadership defiency. This year, all the assembled leaders are gone, no replacement leaders, and no narrative.

I’m guessing the leadership issue just disappeared.

Military leadership- the ability to influence another to accomplish a mission. Text book.

If he's at lead-off on OD instead of VSII (if he's on the team and only a moron Mo would send him down  ) or Noot (.452 OB% this spring), then Oli has lost his ever lovin' mind. ::crazya::

Seriously this can’t happen at leadoff. That means, every game, you start your first inning 0 -1, waste your number two/three hitter, and leadoff the second with number four hitter. That’s backasswards.

You would've thought a .290 OB% in 2024 couldn't happen at lead-off either BDog but it did, yet another example of how inept our Manager has been since the day he was hired.

So far not one posters agrees with Winn at the top spot. Not one. 100 percent. Not realistic? So as a general representation of the over all fan base, most say no.

How can so many be so wrong?

We're Not, Oli is.

I'd put the odds very high the moron Manager writes his name in the lead-off spot on OD. ::crazya::

I read in another thread that Winn has a wrist injury. Has anyone else heard/read this?

A very regular-season-like lineup — minus SS Masyn Winn (right wrist soreness) — is on tap for the #STLCards today against the #Nats. LHP Steven Matz starts on the mound.

I read where many of you have expressed concern that Winn lead off.

Leadoff must get on base and steal. Does he do this. No.

I’m not asking where he hits. Not the intent.

Do you think Winn should lead off. That’s the one answer question.

Enjoy.
Stealing isn't necessary for a leadoff hitter. Sure, it's a nice add-on, but the guy in your lineup who is going to get the most plate appearances HAS to be adept at not making outs, and that hasn't been Winn, yet.

Minimum .340 OBP for a leadoff hitter, and you only accept it that low if he does steal bases and goes 1st to 3rd/2nd to home very well.

They aren't wrong. Unless/until he gets his OBP up, you're wasting too many outs at the top of the lineup on a guy with a .299 career OBP, and a career high of .314 - he made an out over 68% of the time last year.

#STLCards manager Oliver Marmol said SS Masyn Winn (sore right wrist) will take several at bats today on a back field in live BP. The hope then is that he will return to game action on Friday when the team has two split-squad games, Marmol said

Thanx. Good input. Seems weird and it seems Scott and Winn don’t play in the same game often.
