Ted Lasso coming back for fourth season

Post by todd-parker »

The show first came out during the pandemic at a time when people were craving the feel-good story it was providing. The seasons that followed seemed to have diminishing returns in terms of quality and there looked to be a pretty definite ending at the end of season 3. Hopefully the time away has allowed the writers to find the magic from season 1.

Maybe Ted will be named the new coach of STL City.

I thought the show was great for three seasons and had a very lovely ending. I guess I get the need and interest for more but at what point is the Fonz jumping the shark in this show?

Yup, the ending was definitive and satisfying, and deciding to continue it reeks of squeezing the last drops out of a cash cow.

That said, it'll probably be enjoyable enough for most of the time, and worst case is that I can finish the season via hate watching and then not bother for any future seasons.

To throw things for a loop, the writers should have Ted turn heel this time. Have him become an abusive, win-at-all costs type of coach. Start adding criminals and shady-types to the roster, encourage his players to take PEDs and intentionally injure the opponents, put a hit out on Rupert, etc.

Then, redemption arc in season 5 and call it a series.

Not too far removed from the Nate character arc. The guy went from happy go lucky team mascot water boy geek to the coach of Manchester United. Probably the dumbest part of the entire three seasons IMO.

I know you are mostly trying to be funny, and you succeeded, but can't actually see that happening. If we are setting up ideas for S4 how about a steamy relationship between Rebecca and Keely, complete with Anora (nobody probably actually saw the movie) like nudity and sex scenes. A boy can hope.

Rumor has it that Ted will be coaching a woman's team in the new season. So...there's that.

Season three wasn’t that good, and they ended it in logical place.

I understand the success makes them want to continue, but I don’t have high hopes for this.

I agree. Season 3 was the weakest. Zava was pretty dumb & pointless IMO. I think they ended things very well, so my hopes for season 4 are not that high. Loved the show though, some great episodes and themes, acting was strong throughout.
