Can someone explain the Siani love?
Surely there are better options. Why not Scott? Siani is the perfect example of an all field no hit player. The time he's getting playing is taking away from other options. Hell, move Noot to center and play any of the young options in left. Koperniak, Church, or put Donovan in left and try Prieto at 2nd. Siani is a dead spot in the lineup. He couldn't hang in Cincy and his offense is dragging down the Cards too. Please, enough with the Siani playing time.

Was it ST when he played last year? What Siani love?
Re: Can someone explain the Siani love?
Maybe scouty thinks the 2024 season was also spring training!CCard wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 09:15 amWas it ST when he played last year? Re: Can someone explain the Siani love?
It sure seems there should be better options. After what we saw last season should have been enough.
Re: Can someone explain the Siani love?
The only love I see for Siani is with his defense which is GG caliber.
That can be huge in CF.
Of course his bat is weak. Sadly it was coming around prior to him getting injured.

Re: Can someone explain the Siani love?
He's just being contrary. No sane person could look at Siani and say "That's my starting CF in the major leagues." Of course, I guess he could be insane.sdaltons wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 09:24 amMaybe scouty thinks the 2024 season was also spring training!CCard wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 09:15 amWas it ST when he played last year? Apparently people do need to explain ST. How'd VS2 do last year in ST and then at MLB?CCard wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 09:15 amWas it ST when he played last year? Where did I say anything like that? Moran...CCard wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 09:34 amHe's just being contrary. No sane person could look at Siani and say "That's my starting CF in the major leagues." Re: Can someone explain the Siani love?
It's a bit odd. He's a good defender, but he's not saving 100 runs a year as Herzog once ludicrously said about Ozzie. He's got to hit something and nothing in his background indicates he will. He's sort of a really poor mans Gary Pettis - a slap singles hitter who strikes out a lot and doesn't walk much. Sinai is just much worse. Based on last year's numbers, if he got 650 PAs he'd walk just 40 times & strikeout 180 times. You might live with that if he was an undisciplined power hitter like Tony Armas, but he has no power. If he played full time, he'd strikeout 38 more times than his combined walks and hits. He's a complete zero at the plate.
Re: Can someone explain the Siani love?
Indeed. But some seem to think he's worthy of that playing time. You can almost guarantee that when he comes to the plate it's an out. He's a good defender but how many balls does he really touch (no pun intended) in a game. Ozzie Smith turned himself into a good offensive player, Siani doesn't appear capable. Why is he even taking up playing time from someone else? He must have pictures of someone's wife.nighthawk wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 09:38 am It's a bit odd. Re: Can someone explain the Siani love?
LOL...comparing the very talented Scott with a castoff from Cincy. You're brilliant. Scott has more talent on his worst day than Siani will have in his entire career. One needs to play and one needs to be gone. Which would you choose?scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 09:37 amApparently people do need to explain ST. Re: Can someone explain the Siani love?
He runs fast and he can go pick it in the outfield. And that was good enough for me.
But his noodle bat this spring just doesn't justify his spot on the team, not when there's people performing better offensively with a relatively small defensive downgrade.

It's very odd. The message is about playing the youth but they keep turning their backs on the youths at the first sign of trouble.nighthawk wrote: ↑16 Mar 2025 09:38 am It's a bit odd.
