Has a West Wing alternative universe vibe with a POTUS who looks kinda like Harris and a 'beloved bi-partisan ex-president who lost a son' who looks like, or at least is almost as old as, Biden. Which might account for at least some of the critical/audience brush off.
Thing is, a cyber attack is a very compelling/plausible dystopian threat vector, so that part I find compelling. One episode in, it seems like a decent show. I'm a-gonna give it a chance. It starts out with a one-minute downtime, with catastrophic results which may be imagined if every connected device went off-line. It is coupled with a warning that it will happen again, and the culprit (ok, I'm thinking, of course, our good friends in the Kremlin, as must be everyone else) unknown'.
One of the biggest implausibilities is that the ex-Pres (DeNiro), or anyone in public life, is actually broadly trusted, at this point, back in the real universe.
Jesse Plemons has dropped a ton of weight, is almost unrecognizable, in a good way, for him.

Yeah, I enjoyed it too. Fairly deftly avoided any obvious partisan slant, which could be considered a mark in its favor, or studiously avoiding the elephant in the room.netboy65 wrote: ↑26 Feb 2025 12:59 pmI finished it, only like 6 episodes. Spoiler
They never explained the whole 'who killed Bambi' schtick or the other weird scribblings in his notebooks, though, did they ? Maybe those were the effects of the 'stupid ray'.

The who killed Bambi was the song playing on his son’s stereo when he found his body. The rest I thought were just effects of them trying to drive him nuts

Re: Zero Day
I will always be grateful to Ted Koppel for the way he opened "ABC Nightline" immediately following the terrifying 1983 TV-movie "The Day After", which posited a nuclear bomb destroying Lawrence KS. All advertisers required their ads run BEFORE the bomb detonated, so there was no relief from the terror and devastation for more than an hour.
At the end, ABC immediately segued to Koppel in the anchor chair, whose first words were, "First, before we do anything here, open your door or window and take a good look outside. It's all still there."
WHEW.....
