Works for me. If you need to push it back to the 23rd that would still work

I think you've now also given us one minor league spot (the "NA" spot) to stash a player.
Could we vote on whether we might make that two such spots, maybe at the cost of subtracting one IL spot?

I’ll start up a poll in the next few days, perhaps with three options… one being to add another N/A spot, without dropping the IL slot.

Looking to stream or make trades at all. I like movers and shakers. Not stagnant rosters. Need active owners that don’t just set lineups and look once per week? Speak up if you play like me and like to make a lot of moves so I know who to communicate with.

Frankly, I still don't quite understand the strategic predilection with making an inordinate number of trades. If everyone is reasonably sane, any trade offer should have to be close to 50/50 (or, if you prefer, 25/25/25/25 among "We both win"/"We both lose"/"I win - You lose"/"I lose - You win"), because no one knows the future (in particular when it comes to injury) for the players involved.Quincy Varnish wrote: ↑22 Feb 2025 19:25 pmLast year, the league had 1,118 total league transactions and 58 trades.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑22 Feb 2025 19:20 pmHow many moves did you make last year - 200+?Quincy Varnish wrote: ↑22 Feb 2025 19:18 pmThat’s funnyYouboughtit wrote: ↑22 Feb 2025 18:38 pm15 teams with IL and 2 NA? So, at best, it should be a situation where you believe you have small, marginal advantages (like 55/45 instead of 50/50) in offering trades and you try to compound that advantage over a large number of trades. But it still seems like that can all be undone by one or two untimely trades for cornerstone players who get injured and are out for significant time right as you pick them up.

It’s not just for fun, though. All of my trades were driven by purpose… usually to address a specific need, but sometimes to consolidate value. Say I have three small holes, and three small pegs that don’t match my holes. You have three small pegs that do not match your holes, or mine, and three small holes that match my pegs, and one big peg… I want your big peg, even if I don’t need it. So I’m giving you my small pegs for your small holes to get your big peg - and guess what, since I’m filling all your small holes, you could probably spare one of your unneeded little pegs.
Now - who wants my new pegs? I’ve got some holes to fill…
You see how this can escalate. “I’m going to make a bunch of trades, for some inexplicable reason” is not a recurring thought in my head.
Ever wonder why professional gamblers bet on seemingly every game? Because they know they’ll be right, most of the time. They don’t sweat the losses.

Frankly, that only works if the people you are dealing with are irrational. Your "three small pegs" have to be near "replacement level" players for fantasy purposes - players that, if one were rational, you would know could be effectively replaced by the ever available pool of FAs - riding one warm replacement level player for a few games at a time if need be - while the "big peg" is a high value cornerstone player that you can't easily find in the FAs.Quincy Varnish wrote: ↑23 Feb 2025 09:02 amFun is a difficult concept for Mattbot to grasp.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑23 Feb 2025 07:53 amFrankly, I still don't quite understand the strategic predilection with making an inordinate number of trades. So, of course, you would always trade three, near replacement level, "small pegs" for one very valuable "big peg" and then just go grab a couple of FAs.
Why anyone would consent to doing such a trade with you is the mystery.
I would think the rule of thumb should be simple - if you are not getting the best individual player in the deal (or at least an exchange of equivalently valuable "big pegs"), you probably shouldn't do the trade.

Neat. By your rule of thumb, no trades would ever be made unless one manager is an idiot.Your "three small pegs" have to be near "replacement level" players for fantasy purposes - players that, if one were rational, you would know could be effectively replaced by the ever available pool of FAs - riding one warm replacement level player for a few games at a time if need be - while the "big peg" is a high value cornerstone player that you can't easily find in the FAs.

That isn’t how it needs to work. Maybe I made it too complicated, and seemingly inequitable.
New example… Your offense sucks, but you have four ace-quality starting pitchers. I have offense coming out of my ears, but need an ace. I give you three guys to fix your offense, and get my ace… you include two players that you would have dropped anyway. We both benefit, and nobody’s stupid. Simple.
