Hobey Baker 2025

Post by hockey jedi »

I just read Chicago has four guys that are in the running for the Hobey Baker award. They are Aidan Thompson, Sacha Boivert, Sam Rinzel, and Ryan Green. Chicago is going to be really good in the near future.

I have to believe Jimmy Snuggerud has a better shot at winning, but you never know.

Hawks are loaded. Rinzel is really good as is Boisvert. They have a great mix of forwards and dmen on the way.

I think the best Hawk prospects are not playing in college...Lardis (OHL) Kantserov (KHL) Vanaker (OHL) and Spellacy (OHL).

Admittedly I dont follow prospects much outside of the few top ones in the Blues system.

Is the USHL any good? Funny coincidence but my son has a 8U tourney in Cedar Rapids starting tomorrow, we are going to the Roughriders game on Saturday, don't really know what to expect lol.

You're not wrong about Chicago, but we've seen a couple hobey baker winners on the Blues over the years and they've been busts. I guess I'm just saying that award doesn't mean much at the NHL level. Peter Sejna and Scotty P says hello

There are also examples of HB winners with HOF careers, but I'm just sayin...

In Peru's case...you can't bust if you're not playing.

Yes, you can. There is a reason why he's not playing. Most of us here, know why.

HUGE difference in college, Canadian hockey leages, and the NHL

Being very good in college doesn't mean squat in nhl, or prove anything. plenty of100+ point players in juniors who never sniffed a sip of NHL

Don't worry....1/3 of their prospects will want out, a 1/3 will be busts...the other 1/3 will be mired in a permanent tank-job rebuild.

Iron Pyrite, Jr.: Very simple - when one is 4'4" and 135 pounds, it's hard to be a force on defense.

Yup. Being good against kids and AHL journeymen means nothing when it comes to NHL success.

Scottie hasn't had as good a season as his Hobey Baker in 2020.

Basically every other winner and finalist since is an elite NHLer.

Too bad he isn't a Makar.
