Severance S2 Trailer
My family and I are really excited for this, just finished rewatching S1 and it's the best season of television I've seen in a long time. Trailer makes S2 look great.

Re: Severance S2 Trailer
I thought that Severance was not going to be something I liked at all. I initially didn't watch it and finally ended up just putting it on one day because I really like Adam Scott. I got hooked. It is a really great show and I'm very excited for season 2. I agree that it's one of the best seasons of TV I've seen in awhile.
Re: Severance S2 Trailer
At first it was hard to watch but something definitely grabs you and it gets better and better as it goes. The sense of claustrophobia watching that show is intense at times, feeling trapped while watching. So looking forward to this second season.Ronnie Dobbs wrote: ↑11 Dec 2024 07:52 am I thought that Severance was not going to be something I liked at all. I was really put off on first impression by what I took as the hammy tone of it, but given all the forum love, I'm a-gonna give it another chancet.Edson wrote: ↑17 Dec 2024 08:34 amAt first it was hard to watch but something definitely grabs you and it gets better and better as it goes. My wife and I almost gave up on it as well so I get that for sure. I would definitely recommend giving it another chance. It picks up after the ground work is laid in the first few episodes.MikoTython wrote: ↑16 Jan 2025 08:31 amI was really put off on first impression by what I took as the hammy tone of it, but given all the forum love, I'm a-gonna give it another chancet.Edson wrote: ↑17 Dec 2024 08:34 amAt first it was hard to watch but something definitely grabs you and it gets better and better as it goes. Re: Severance S2 Trailer
One very small SPOILER below. It is relatively harmless but beware.
I really liked it though it's going to take me a minute to figure out what I watched. I feel like that is part of the charm of the show/story. And I am thoroughly creeped out by Ms. Huong. "Why is a child........" Just another in a never ending WTF is going on moment with this show.
Good news is Apple thinks they are NBC in 1994 on Thursday nights so they send us the gift of 1 EP a week. I'll have a week to figure it out. Also, to Apple's credit I feel like they are the last platform that runs shows commercial free, at least without the up charge the other platforms try to get you to pay.

We found out a lot in this episode (or from the trailer): they sever kids, there are multiple sites of severed floors around the world (with varying standards of facility and operations), andGeorge Zipp wrote: ↑18 Jan 2025 09:14 amOne very small SPOILER below. It is relatively harmless but beware.

Spoiler
There's apparently some link between what Mark is doing on his computer and Gemma?
Re: Severance S2 Trailer
Super excited this is back. I’ve been waiting so long. The premier was awesome. George, completely agree about the Miss Wong character. And when she was playing that little ring game with Kier in it, that was top-level creepy. So was the ball game and her looks to the team when they entered the Break Room.
Spoiler
The main theory I’m seeing is that it’s Helena down there now, not Helly. But I’m not so sure about that. She may have lied about her outside experience because she’s embarrassed about telling the team she’s an Eagan. That would certainly blow up their relationships. The writing on the show is so good… that to me seems like an obvious twist they wouldn’t do.
The new Break Room scene was insane. Pineapple bobbing? That sounds like an awful perk! Another cool element, the voice of the building is Keanu Reeves.
And the story about the Macrodat uprising is bull[shirt]. The newspaper Milkshake (hilarious, btw) showed Mark was definitely a fake.
Even though some things have been revealed, there’s still so much to wonder about. I can’t wait to see what’s next.

Re: Severance S2 Trailer
Spoilers abound.
A lot of odd aspects of this series.
I enjoy the low-tech aspect - seems to be drawing from roughly early nineties vintage gear. Kind of reminds me of Tim & Eric's Cinco gadget riffs. The corporate food trays and hokey 'incentives'. The hallways are just a straight-up maze. They really put the cloying aspect of corporate management into the red zone w/ Arquette, Milkshake is a grinning menace - straight out of Maggie's farm. The silly Kier platitudes, also of the BIL, are amusing. Thing is, every once in a while, the BIL hits a strong note. Its a nice subtle touch.
The acting by the principles is pretty superb, the character arcs deftly written/performed. The romance between Turturro & Walken touching.
It's sort of a half-baked concept, with the 'innies' representing, in some measure, enslavement. Except it requires individuals to volunteer, or be conned into their own enslavement (or, possibly, down the line it is revealed that much of the severance is compulsory, which I fully expect). The contempt the Eagan patriarch had for his daughter's 'innie' was jarring, schizophrenic. It's clearly a metaphor for, in some measure, the toll our capitalistic corporate-mediated work-life regimen takes upon what might be the fullest expression of human potential, or put another way - a dystopian vision of a corporate 'will to (over)power the sovereign human consciousness/destiny, individually & collectively with largely irrevocable time-share leases on the souls, presumably ultimately, of all. Helly's 'outie' and her papa represent that horror in full.
The first episode of the new season seemed to have a lot of, even by the show's loose standard, implausible elements with the B team crew that came & quickly went, with the happy result that the original crew all popped out of the elevator, ready for new 'adventures'. One way to possibly understand all the twists & turns being made to accommodate this team is they are perhaps a beta group, upon whom the regimen & protocols are being burned in for long-term 'innies' and their 'issues'.
May I also agree that the little girl is certifiably creepy, and Ms. Casey is certifiably hot.
To sum up, it's a loosy-goosy 'thought experiment' that delivers some solid entertainment, but leave most of your (in my case hyper)critical faculties at the door.

Re: Severance S2 Trailer
Just watched S2, episode one.
In my mind, I hear Ryan George from Pitch Meeting:
"Wow, after all that happened at the end of last season, it's going to be hard to get all the main characters back to just sitting around their desks working for Lumen again."
"Actually, it's going to be super-easy, barely an inconvenience..."
I'm starting to get that Lost feeling.

Dicktar, I think you are being pretty harsh, but hey, everyone is entitled to their own opinion!

The show does run the risk of becoming over-the-top silly, convoluted, gimicky (i.e. lost). Based upon that interview, it seems Helly is not, after all, an outie spy.FrankTheTank wrote: ↑21 Jan 2025 13:50 pm Dicktar, I think you are being pretty harsh, but hey, everyone is entitled to their own opinion!

Hope the show holds up, they define a reasonable arc respecting the concept, stick to it, rather than stringing it out. Tell you this - the natives are restless, but the British East India Company is firmly resolved to have their tea.

Re: Severance S2 Trailer
I dunno. I did a rewatch marathon a couple of weeks ago, and I have to say, the first season was a LOT slower than I remembered. And so much basic information went unexplained, that it already had me feeling this was the work of writers who want to keep as many options open for as long as possible. Which might be because they're pacing themselves for 5 seasons, or it might be because they're making it up as they go.MikoTython wrote: ↑21 Jan 2025 14:34 pmThe show does run the risk of becoming over-the-top silly, convoluted, gimicky (i.e. lost). I won't judge an entire season by the first episode, but the premiere did not exactly allay my concerns. I can't stand watching one episode per week at this point in my life, so I'll probably just wait until it's all dropped.
