This is one movie, targeted for lovers of the arts, and particularly of the talented diva Maria Callas. How far does one go to achieve greatness in your field, and what is the ultimate cost?
But the “critics” panned the film because it seemed to be wandering around a senseless core. That never bothered me - viewing snippets of Callas’ life and performances. And the acting by every principal and supporting cast was superb
I’m not necessarily a fan of Angelina Jolie, even though she showed some signs of great acting skills in the past. But I consider this film to be her tour de force. She evidently took operatic singing lessons in order to display the correct motions, and she disappeared into the part. That was Maria!
No, this film is not for everyone, but if you’re an arts aficionado, it’s for you.
