Any new information on Cantwell?

Post by Bob39 »

Has anyone heard anything recent about Jackson Cantwell? Seems like Missouri would have a good shot given his connections. I wonder if Drinkwitz was able to talk with him when Nixa went to CoMo for the state title game.

I'm pretty sure his mom lives in CoMo and would like to be nearby.
He might be the most "must-get" player in the history of the program.

I assume he will also throw shot put at whatever school he attends. Isn't he nationally ranked in that event?

There probably won't even be a commitment until late next summer. 50 weeks until signing day

From on3''s Chad Simmons 2 days ago:

"@ChadSimmons_·Dec 17
Five-Star Plus+ OT Jackson Cantwell visited Ohio State and Michigan for the first time over the weekend and neither Big Ten program disappointed.

"I like both programs a lot and they have a lot of great stuff going on," Cantwell said."

Pace stayed in his home state to play college. He also excelled in athletics beyond the football field as a great low-post player on the hardwood.

I'm sure Drink was able to do anything within the limits. That's a high probability.

Cantwell never wondered about the very slight possibility that Drink would not.

Please enlighten us readers how you know what Jackson wondered or didn't wonder. Are you a friend of the family? Perhaps a clairvoyant? Or maybe just a liar...

I'm not looking forward to another 5-star miss on the OL. Sprague, Babalola, Rogers. Will Cantwell make the list too?

reportedly OR was determined to not be outbid for him but then Aggies said hold my beer and jumped in with their vast resources, then OSU who spent more money than anyone end of last season after MU whooped them in Bowl game and Day knew his job was HOTSEAT!

Cantwell is in drivers seat with no pressure to do anything till end of summer. Better not to ask and let it play out as anyone following closely is doomed to be disappointed. besides all of rumors are speculation.

Beyond aTm, Oregon and Ohio St. - keep an eye on SMU in the Cantwell sweepstakes.

They have piles of private school $, well funded alums and a new president (just hired away from Texas) that prioritizes football.

Are you sure about that? You already have a list and seem to look forward to adding to it.

Most people who don't look forward to something normally don't broadcast it.

I doubt that money will be the decisive factor. I do believe that the school that offers the best opportunity for both football AND shot putting will be where he lands. That's why I worry about both Oregon and Nebraska. Oregon is the amateur track and field center of the country, amazing facilities and great coaching. And Nebraska, his mother's home state, last year hired as head track and field coach, Justin St. Clair, considered one of the best throw coaches in the NCAA. He had several All-americans at N. Dakota St. and several NCAA champs. Last season he had 2 NCAA champs on the Nebraska women's team - javelin and shot put.
However, most pundits still give Mizzou the edge, but far from a lock.
