Several sites have described her as even ruder than Ricky Gervais; that's OK so long as she's funny....which Jo Koy definitely was NOT when he totally bombed last year as host --- then, during his DOA monologue, blaming the writers --- when the GGs returned to network TV after the Hollywood Foreign Press Association was shamed by their own ineptitude and lack of integrity.
Because it's Dick Clark Productions behind the show, it's always an entertaining SHOW....despite the fact that the Globes themselves have all the showbiz influence, heft, and gravitas of a paperweight...which is where many of those cheap little bowling trophies end up. It's the first of what seems like about 1200 movie awards galas before the Oscars

But, it can still be worth watching if you're, for some godforsaken reason, watching that instead of the biggest (most popular American sport, since we're banned here from using the f-word) game of the year at 7:15 CST on NBC:
Unlike the Oscars, both movies and TV shows are awarded;
Both movie and TV stars are in attendance;
Several are drinking at their tables, or wish they could were they not in fear of the TV cameras catching them sloshed;
Unlike the Oscars, there is not a 90-minute block of obscure awards absolutely nobody west of Los Angeles cares about.
The funniest moment of the night will be when they announce "The Substance" and its stars as best (in a) Comedy nominees. At that moment, Glaser should start spewing gallons of blood from the stage, depending upon how successful her high-profile hosting gig went.
