Clint Eastwood's Last Film (?) Has Him Going Out a Winner
It's called "Juror #2" and it's lean 'n mean (1:53) in typical Eastwood style, filmed in Savannah GA with overall good reviews. Good god, the guy's 94: https://www.mrqe.com/movie_reviews/juror-2-m100150199/#

Some people have the right genes. Jimmy Carter was still swinging a hammer for Habitat for Humanity at 94.Pink Freud wrote: ↑06 Nov 2024 12:22 pm It's called "Juror #2" and it's lean 'n mean (1:53) in typical Eastwood style, filmed in Savannah GA with overall good reviews. Always ambivalent about Eastwood, his pronouncements. But will surely give this a watch.
One of the more incredible cases of wrongful conviction, some of you may not have heard of :

He should have quit after those spaghetti westerns.

Your soaring intellect has once again illuminated that which movie critics and students of cinema around the world have apparently missed. Imagine their surprise when they learn that "Drooiin'" Ed says "Unforgiven", "Mystic River", "Pale Rider", "Sully" and "Million Dollar Baby" all actually sucked. The Academy's going to be asking for some Oscars to be returned.

He's so old and stupid, he doesn't realize Gran Torino stopped production years ago.

According to the WSJ, "Juror No. 2" was intended to be shown in a handful of theaters, then streamed on MAX.
Warner Brothers --- home of the Clint Eastwood Sound Studio where he mixes his films' scores (which we visited a few years ago) --- magnanimously credited the theatrical release as a tribute to The Great Man, but in practical terms the one week release is the minimum to qualify it for Oscars.
If it does win an Oscar I sure hope Clint doesn't bring that empty chair back on stage to accept it.

Before Gran Torino, he was an elite liberal Hollywood darling. Post-Gran Torino, he became the Trumpy get-off-my-lawn (bleep) we know today. Blow me, boomer.Pink Freud wrote: ↑10 Nov 2024 14:39 pmProving yet again that you're so young and stupid (redundant?) that you're trashing a film you obviously never saw or, if you did, never comprehended.

Elite liberal Hollywood darling??? My god, you get dumber with each post. Clint's appearance at the [political party] National Convention in 2012 with an empty chair to trash "invisible" Obama (he's the liberal darling, Aristotle) is legend, and that was four years AFTER "Gran Torino". But, since it happened before your roach egg hatched, it didn't matter.Ed Fraser wrote: ↑11 Nov 2024 18:39 pmBefore Gran Torino, he was an elite liberal Hollywood darling. The clown can't sit at a keyboard without making a fool of himself. Calls Eastwood a 'boomer'. The oldest Boomers were born in 1946 (the baby boom following WW2). By 1946 Eastwood was already licensed to drive a car. His is known as The Silent Generation.Pink Freud wrote: ↑11 Nov 2024 21:59 pmElite liberal Hollywood darling??? Ever since "OK boomer" became a dismissal meme he falls back on it for anyone older and smarter (i.e., everyone) than him. Ya think he'll ever leave mommy's basement, even if Subway desperately needs another Sandwich Artist?edwin drood wrote: ↑12 Nov 2024 10:38 am

Re: Clint Eastwood's Last Film (?) Has Him Going Out a Winner
Gotta say, I Hated Gran Torino. That was some cringe-worthy preening on the old gaffer's part - which he's never been above rolling around in.
The only truly great movie he ever created/directed was, imho, The Unforgiven. Politically & artistically, he's always been a ditherer, trading on a mixture of macho & sappy PC tropes, him usually hogging the macho side of every question.
One aspect of life he's been pretty committed to & consistent concerning is the nature & quality of justice. For that reason, I'll be interested to see his likely final say on the subject.

Eastwood accomplishes more when he takes a [shirt] than Ed has done in his entire sad life.edwin drood wrote: ↑09 Nov 2024 11:39 amYour soaring intellect has once again illuminated that which movie critics and students of cinema around the world have apparently missed.
