She made an amazing musical journey, from beautiful folk and folk-rock to your 1974 tune with its heavy jazz influence. A unique and remarkable talent. "Ladies of the Canyon" remains my personal favorite, largely due to its intersection with my personal life. Interesting side note: her guitar playing is difficult to duplicate at best because as a young player she had mild polio affecting her hands and couldn't create many standard chords so she came up with dozens of open tunings in order to get the sound she wanted.
From 1971 "Blue"

For Free is a brilliant song, all based on a moment waiting to cross the street. A true artist . Tony Rice recorded a very nice cover of Urge For Going on his Native American album. Joni's voice and style were quite different in 1966, when she seemed to be singing ala Joan Baez or Buffy Sainte-Marie versus later in her career as Joni.

An aside, the guy on the right in 1966 is THE Jimmy Driftwood, author of over 6000 golk and country songs, including "The Battle of New Orleans" and "Tennessee Stud", the latter which was popularized by the great Doc Watson. I have no idea what he was doing in Sudbury Ontario but he played a unique guitar which is on the TV show and in the article below.

She’s probably one of top ten guitarists in the world. She doesn’t get enough credit for that. Her work with the Parker Fly is exquisite.
