Re: Deadpool & Wolverine
I saw it last night, and basically it is everything you have ever wanted, or needed, while anticipating this duo on screen. Fan service? Sure, but I don't care. There is no other Wolverine, whoever straps into those claws will really need to bring it. ha Ryan Reynolds was born to play Deadpool, but we have known that from the first 30 seconds of the first movie.
Go see it. Get some popcorn and enjoy two-hours in a movie theatre.

With a lot of Marvel movies or any action movie, you’re lucky to get one or two mind-blowing fight scenes. I want to say this one had five minimum? And the cameos, oh boy, the studio spoiled a few in the previews, but there are still several they didn’t show us that are awesome.FrankTheTank wrote: ↑26 Jul 2024 09:34 am I saw it last night, and basically it is everything you have ever wanted, or needed, while anticipating this duo on screen. Loved the movie, but as a confirmed Honda fan, they kinda (bleep) on the Honda Odyssey.

If there is an award for Truth in Advertising, this wins it. It delivers exactly what it promises (more swords to the groin than I expected, though).
Is it possible that Feige and co. are actually getting the message on how much everybody hates the Multiverse [nonsense]? I doubt it, but one can hope.

To me the movie was way out there in the beginning but it did get better. The only thing I really wasn’t a fan of was the way over the top cursing. Cursing usually doesnt bother me but I think they could have left about 895 of the MFers out and still got their point across
. I am glad they left it open to a possible DP/W 2
Re: Deadpool & Wolverine
Am I the only one who felt the whole reason for Logan being the "worst Wolverine" was incredibly underwhelming? He happened to be out while the school got attacked? That's it? No extreme moral cowardice or unforgivable betrayal? This was really confusing to me.
Otherwise the movie was pretty cool. Great action scenes, especially the hand-to-hand combat. Dogpool's an instant classic. A few truly great cameos surrounded by waves of mediocre ones (Chris Evans being my favorite followed by Blade and Gambit). I thought either the costume or Tatum himself was too stiff for Gambit, but otherwise it was really fun seeing that character on screen for the first time.
All the stunt casting for various masked Deadpools was pretty dumb though imo. Do people really get that excited for a single line or two behind a mask?

I hear ya. I owned an Oldsmobile Silhouette --- "It's the Cadillac of minivans!" --- when I went to see "Get Shorty".

I am not especially a superhero movie fan, even though I grew up worshipping the "Superman" and "Batman" TV series, but today's MCU movies seem like I'm watching a video game.....and I've never played a video game. Yet, I kind of stumbled into watching "Deadpool 2" a few months and laughed my butt off, plus I love Hugh Jackman (personal fave: "The Prestige"), so I will definitely see this movie on the big screen.

Agreed. I can handle a few "F" bombs, but more than a few means just lazy writing. Even "Deadpool 2" drops a funny line about lazy writing. It's no wonder so many younger people drop "F" bombs into every sentence, since that's what they grew up watching.TC1985 wrote: ↑03 Aug 2024 06:31 am To me the movie was way out there in the beginning but it did get better. For those not familiar with the movie ratings board's judgment off "PG" vs. "R" movies and profanity, this is what I learned years ago, and I think it's still in place:
A film can contain ONE, but no more than one, F-bomb and retain its PG rating, so long as it's an expression of frustration or amazement, and not as a sex reference. Two F-bombs for any reason and it's an automatic "R".
Now, of all people, Harvey Weinstein

Apparently, there are only 116 "F" bombs in 'Deadpool & Wolverine'. Pales in comparison to the 569 in 'Wolf of Wall Street'.Pink Freud wrote: ↑16 Aug 2024 13:36 pmAgreed. Now, of all people, Harvey Weinsteingot an exception to that. His excellent "The King's Speech" has a brief scene where the Colin Firth is absolutely frustrated and livid over his stuttering, and he explodes into a furious array of colorful curses. Initially rated "R", Weinstein went to the MPAA and argued that high school kids, presently banned by the "R" rating, should be able to see such a movie. He (grudgingly) was right, and the PG stuck.

Re: Deadpool & Wolverine
I am glad Ryan Reynolds has enough gravitas to tell Disney to go "F" themselves when they tried in to add some DEI [nonsense] in the third act.
Re: Deadpool & Wolverine
Second time. The first time was in the thoroughly forgettable X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) with Taylor Kitsch playing the character.
Random related trivia - Ladypool was played by Blake Lively, who is also the real-life Ladypool to Ryan Reynolds.
Re: Deadpool & Wolverine
Yeah Blake Lively, McConaughey as Cowboy Deadpool, Nathan Fillion as Deadpool's disembodied head... stunt casting for a a couple of lines behind a mask. Unimpressive to me.
Re: Deadpool & Wolverine
Sort of related....I guess Fillion is getting good at playing "just a head" as he did the same in the Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet!3dender wrote: ↑21 Aug 2024 07:28 amYeah Blake Lively, McConaughey as Cowboy Deadpool, Nathan Fillion as Deadpool's disembodied head... stunt casting for a a couple of lines behind a mask.
