GOT did such an amazing job of balancing out all of their characters, and trying to give equal time to everyone. You felt invested in all of those characters, and their story-telling was amazing. I mean, don't get me wrong, it took a season or so, but eventually you got invested (and actually knew) everyone's names (almost anyways). HOTD has not mastered that. GOT did what the Walking Dead struggled with most of its run, balancing out the storylines so that one episode wasn't just some boring throw away episode.

The finale was kind of more setting things up, which is basically how the first season ended as well. I understand that HBO is being cheap and only giving them 8 episodes or whatever, but still. Kind of lame.

I like this show, but I have to admit it has it's problems. The main thing I think is all the characters and how difficult it is to keep track of them and not getting really attached to any of them. But that's a problem with the source material. Unlike GOT, which is obviously based on the books which get into a ton of character development and stuff, HOTD is based on a book that is just a history, rather than a real novel. It just basically tells you what happened and gives some insight into these characters from a historical perspective, but you don't get to know them like you do in the novels. And while the show is trying it's best, it's not going to be as good as GRRM is at it. And it's just a lot of characters too.

But I still like the show.
