Gallagher's Restaurant, Waterloo, IL

Post by Basil Shabazz »

I wanted to share my recent experience at Gallagher's in Waterloo with the board.

Let's start with the positives. The ambiance at Gallagher's was truly exceptional. From the moment we approached the building to finding our seats on the second floor, everything exuded a five-star steakhouse vibe. The decor was tastefully classy, the bar was impressive, and the lighting set the perfect mood. The staff were impeccably dressed, kind, and knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails, especially the Egg White Bourbon Sour. The calamari appetizer was delicious, though I personally prefer smaller bites.

However, when it came to our entrees, we were somewhat underwhelmed. I ordered the ribeye cooked medium with brussels & bacon as a side. Unfortunately, the ribeye was closer to medium well to well-done, lacking the quality I expected. Frankly, I've had better ribeyes at places like Texas Roadhouse. My wife ordered the Grand Marnier Grilled Salmon, which was also disappointing. It was overcooked and lacked flavor, despite the promising description of the glaze.

On a positive note, the downtown district of Waterloo, where Gallagher's is located, was charming and well-maintained. The local shops and inviting streets made for a pleasant stroll after our meal.

In conclusion, while Gallagher's excels in ambiance and service, there is room for improvement in the execution of their main dishes to match their reputation as a high-end steakhouse.

Maybe so, but Fried Chicken wouldn't pay the bills in that fine establishment.

I thought for sure this would be a story about a waiter smashing watermelons at your table. I'm very disappointed it was a review (no offense OP)
