I did, I left a message on the rejection. I said it was actually a decent offer, but Te Oscar is one of my best players and I was worried about the picture you offered me from Atlanta regressing a little bit.An Old Friend wrote: ↑05 Jul 2024 12:58 pmAt least I know it wasn't me!DJ Davis wrote: ↑05 Jul 2024 12:40 pmI’m not looking to call anyone out here specifically, but there is one team that keeps offering me deals for Olson. Usually, they include two outfielders and no one to replace him for me at first base. I was interested in a very good pitcher from this team, who quite frankly isn’t performing as well this year than he normally has, so I offered him Olson plus in what I thought was a fair deal. Then the counter is for that pitcher and a player who has been awful (and who had been dropped by someone else) for Olson, Machado and Flaherty.Quincy Varnish wrote: ↑05 Jul 2024 12:11 pmGuess it doesn’t help anything, but both Walker & Santander ended up on another team that isn’t doing any better in the standings.DJ Davis wrote: ↑05 Jul 2024 11:58 am I get people wanna make trades that benefit their team only, but I feel like most of the offers I get or just ridiculous. Ridiculous trade offers are an unfortunate part of fantasy. I usually take a look at the other team and figure out what makes sense for them. Most won’t bother, or only think about what might look “fair”. I’ve found the best way to deal with that is to focus on the players they want, and counteroffer them for players that YOU want. Sometimes a reasonable trade can evolve from there.
So I’ve tried that a time or two, but I’m also gonna be honest, I’m not looking to try to go back-and-forth with offers all day. I’m just not interested in doing that.
I think the only guy I proposed a deal to you was for Teoscar but I honestly don't remember who I offered and I don't recall you giving any reason for the outright rejection. Tough to find trades without feedback.

I understand but the two for one or three for two offers don’t seem to be plugging any holes effectively. For instance, you wanted Rengifo, and I recall it was a reliever who doesn’t get saves (not really gonna help to lower my ERA or get me wins or quality starts) and another player who is ranked way lower than Rengifo. I don’t see how that helps me at all.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑05 Jul 2024 13:01 pmFWIW - if you are trailing significantly in the standings at this point, you are probably going to get 2-for-1 or 3-for-2 trade offers where you are nominally giving up the "best player" to get multiple "good players" who may be more valuable to plug holes on your roster.DJ Davis wrote: ↑05 Jul 2024 11:58 am I get people wanna make trades that benefit their team only, but I feel like most of the offers I get are kinda ridiculous.

A. To give up the highest ranked player(s) in the deal
B. To give up underperforming first-third round picks for 200-300ish players (especially when I have no one else to play his position - Olson)
C. To receive relievers who rarely or don’t even get saves.

And I guess when you say "ranked way lower" it depends on if you are looking at ranking based on production to date, what ranking Yahoo gives them based on projected production going forward, etc.

I just remember, looking at the stats, an area I struggle in is stolen bases. Rengifo gives me way more in that category than whoever you offered. And I think Hudson was the reliever, and he’s really good. But he’s not helping me in the pitching stats I need improvement in, a zero ERA for one inning every three days or five days isn’t really gonna lower my ERA much. Also, you ended up dropping him anyway.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑05 Jul 2024 13:12 pmI don't recall what I offered, but at least by FantasyPro's assessments, I think every offer I've made recently has had me giving up more total value than I'm getting back.DJ Davis wrote: ↑05 Jul 2024 13:07 pmI understand but the two for one or three for two offers don’t seem to be plugging any holes effectively. I didn't want to drop Hudson. I ended up having to in order to bring Diaz and Soriano off the IL, because when I needed to, Ortiz wasn't IL eligible. Yeah, but the player you offered me, I want to say it was Torres, is projected to be way lower than that. That’s my point, taking on players who are projected be worse than the people I already have, and taking on multiple worse players, doesn’t really do any good.mattmitchl44 wrote: ↑05 Jul 2024 13:19 pmI didn't want to drop Hudson. Re: CT Fantasy Baseball - Interested?
I don’t think an explanation for a trade rejection is necessary. I’ve been offered some trades I have absolutely no interest in. I didn’t feel like I had to explain myself for the rejection. If I’m interested I’d do a counter offer.

AOF has not run out of voodoo devil dust. This time he sprinkled it on Jose Miranda… 25-50, 10 hits in his last 10 ABs. .583/1.475 in the last week. The waiver wire terror continues.

I think I probably offered something like Fry, O'Hoppe, or Diaz (from my depth at catcher) and Torres. Fry (.921 OPS this season, although likely to cool off) and O'Hoppe (.795 OPS this season) would definitely improve your sub-.700 OPS catching situation. Even Diaz (.305 BA, .786 OPS) would likely help.DJ Davis wrote: ↑05 Jul 2024 17:45 pmYeah, but the player you offered me, I want to say it was Torres, is projected to be way lower than that. Of players who you might gamble on to figure it out and bounce back to their career norms for a strong 2nd half, I would think Torres would be right up there.
Again, your status quo, which has you in 9th isn't exactly working. So it seems to me that you have to take some calculated risks if you can get players with proven track records (like Torres) who could be big in the 2nd half.
Now Rengifo has the dreaded wrist injury which makes his future production as a hitter much more uncertain.

On its surface, it’s a loss for you and I didn’t communicate it as a bedrock to build off. So, hopefully you didn’t take it to be insulting. That wasn’t my intention.
Most of my trade thoughts occur at 5 AM

Again, your status quo, which has you in 9th isn't exactly working. So it seems to me that you have to take some calculated risks if you can get players with proven track records (like Torres) who could be big in the 2nd half.
Now Rengifo has the dreaded wrist injury which makes his future production as a hitter much more uncertain.
Where I’m coming from is this… just because I’m where I’m at in the standings doesn’t mean I have to make a trade that I don’t think will help me that much. Rengifo can play multiple positions where as Torres can only play second. I’m covered at second right now. Rengifo helps me more in average OPS and stolen bases, which are categories that I’m not doing as well in. Home runs and RBIs, that’s the main advantage that Torres had over Rengifo (and the advantage isn’t that stark, frankly) and I’m doing well in those already.
I also like to look at peoples rosters and see where the player is. Torres is often on your bench, so that tells me you don’t like him very much.
Also, I don’t think you offered me a catcher, but I wouldn’t have taken that anyway, as I already have two catchers.

Re: CT Fantasy Baseball - Interested?
No, it wasn’t insulting at all, I like Winn. But I already have a shortstop, so that would’ve made me a lot weaker at second base. And when I looked at the stat comparison at the time, Turang had the advantage and most of them.Cool Papa Con wrote: ↑06 Jul 2024 08:42 amAdmittedly, I posted a trade to you of Masyn Winn for Brice Turang to partially start a dialogue with those two as a building block.DJ Davis wrote: ↑05 Jul 2024 11:58 am I get people wanna make trades that benefit their team only, but I feel like most of the offers I get are kinda ridiculous.
Now, I wouldn’t say they’re insulting, but they just make no sense for me. Why do I want:
A. To give up the highest ranked player(s) in the deal
B. To give up underperforming first-third round picks for 200-300ish players (especially when I have no one else to play his position - Olson)
C. To receive relievers who rarely or don’t even get saves.
I also think it’s funny that some of these players offered end up on the waiver wire a day or maybe a week later.
The only offer that made sense for both teams is the one Quincy and I made, of course it (bleep) me because Yammomkto got hurt, but what can you do.
On its surface, it’s a loss for you and I didn’t communicate it as a bedrock to build off. So, hopefully you didn’t take it to be insulting. That wasn’t my intention.
