Just googled, saw nothing but the fireworks on the 4th. Nothing about the usual festivities like live music under the Arch or anything else. Strange.

Thanks. Your search turned up a much better return than mine.

Went to the VP Fair back in '87 I think. 104 degrees that day. Only thing that saved us were the ice filled neck bands that we purchased and you could go back and get new fillers when the thawed.

Millions of dollars to put towards a St. Louis tradition. To get hundreds of thousands of people downtown over the course of 4 days and you do this.

God our city govt sucks so much (donkey).

Did you know they brought to the stage through the crowd? Had him dressed as an SLPD cop.

I was at the first one the prior year in '81. Ozark Mountain Daredevils I believe were the headliner.

A few years later, Linda Ronstadt's limo almost hit me

Chuck Berry denied entering the back stage area of the VP Fair on July 4, 1982 for his own concert. The security guard working the gate to the back stage area didn't believe it was Chuck Berry who arrived at the VP Fair driving his RV. The security guard got on his walkie-talkie and radioed to Steve Schankman who was the music promoter for the VP Fair at the time - the guard said to Steve Schankman "There's a guy here at the gate driving an RV who says he's Chuck Berry." Steve Schankman replies back to the guard "That is Chuck Berry, let him in!!!" As usual, Chuck Berry arrived at his show at the very last minute before he was supposed to take the stage. Chuck Berry always drove himself to his own concerts as well.

My favorite VP Fair concert that I attended was on July 2, 1995 - Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band with the 5th Beatle Billy Preston on keyboards. Other musicians in Ringo's band that day (it was an afternoon show) were Mark Farner, Randy Bachman, John Entwistle, Felix Cavaliere & Zak Starkey. It was a once-in-a-lifetime show!

Here's the set list for the show:

It is sad considering how big this event used to be and the giant names they would get to perform.

At least they’re doing something on the 4th, but how far this has fallen.
