Via the algorithm in Pandora, the Cranberries popped up a few months ago. I had their 90s debut "Everyone is doing it, why can't we" but hadn't listened to it in some time. I have since added a channel dedicated to the group and have, on more than one occasion, gone down the rabbit hole that is YouTube to rediscover not only the band, but the incredible talent and voice that was the late Dolores O'Riordan.
Given all of the biopics we are subjected to these days with some good ... and several "meh" ... I would think that her story would be rich fodder.
Do yourself a favor and venture down the rabbit hole. There are the requisite concert videos and acoustic sets, but seek out her "Ave Maria" duets. One with Andrea Bocelli, and one with Luciano Pavarotti.
You read that right. Bocelli and Pavarotti. And she more than held her own. What an incredible voice.
And such a tortured soul. Gone far too soon at 46.

When the great singers of rock collabarate with the greats of opera, the results are usually excellent. YouTube has some outstanding videos of Freddie Mercury & Montserrat Caballé singing duets on several songs. One of their best is "The Golden Boy." And read the comments...they tell the whole story...

Couldn't stand her caterwauling. Sucks.

Much to my chagrin, I always misheard the song "Linger' and just assumed it referred to flatulence. "Did you have to, did you have to, did you have to let it linger......."
