Are they moving buildings? Or transplanting their building to L.A.? Cause otherwise don't they have to change the title?

It's not called Only Scenes in the Building.

I did not enjoy season 3 as much as the first two. Nevertheless this is on a shortlist of shows the missus and I both enjoy so we'll be tuning in. If nothing else the old guys with Galifianakis should be pretty good.

I assume the murder they will be investigating is the one that happened at the very end of Season 3 - Sazz Pataki, Charles' stunt double, who was played Jane Lynch. She was shot by a sniper in Charles' apartment at The Arconia, and presumably he was the intended target. Not sure what connection Los Angeles has to the case, but I'm pretty sure that's the murder which will be central to the fourth season, given that the last two seasons were both focused on murders that happened in the season finales of the previous seasons.

Curious to see which (if any) of these new cast members will be playing fictionalized versions of themselves, given that the season will be largely set in Hollywood. Sting, Amy Schumer, and Matthew Broderick all appeared as themselves in previous seasons.

I agree with you. I thought S3 was rather awful. The schtick seems the same and to me it's tiresome between the two of them. It's overly silly and way too predictable. The infusion of names plus the change in locale leads me to the opinion that the producers kind of feel the same and the show needs some new life. I'm not 100% I'm going back to it, even with Galafanakis added. I'll typically watch him watch a wall but I'm just not sold on this show any longer.

Some series, it seems, are created and written for one season, then when they get a following the network says "Gimme more!" and in time the show jumps the shark. I think of "Twin Peaks".

However, moving the show to L.A. gives it a new spark; Raymond Chandler would tell you there are lots of buildings and settings in L.A. which lend themselves well to the title and format.

I think the story just sprawled a little too much and for too much screen time. Keep it to the three main characters, the mystery at hand, and the occasional side bit (I did get a kick out of the Matthew Broderick portrayal for example) and I think they get back on track. Silly is a good word for it. And silly is a pretty fine needle to thread for an adult audience before crossing over into stupid.

Just returning to say that we finished Season 4 last night and I really enjoyed it, although it definitely was not set in LA. Not sure why S3 didn't resonate with me as much as the others, especially because this season definitely doesn't focus on just the three main characters as I suggested back in June. Maybe it's as simple as liking movies better than theatre.
Spoiler
Either way I'd say we'll be back for season 5 and however long it goes.
